Dr. Cheryl is from California and is currently caring for patients in Lafayette and the surrounding area. She completed her Bachelor's of Science degree at the University of California - San Diego and received her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University.
As we age, the structure of the proteins that make up the lens of the eye begin to change. These structural changes in the lens of the eye are often the result of oxidative stress from sunlight exposure and antioxidant depletion. As the proteins in the lens of the eye change, it causes clouding and distortion of the lens of the eye.
Glaucoma is a multifactorial disease process with many different sub-categories. In the simplest sense, glaucoma is an eye disease in which the fluid pressure within the eye is elevated. This elevated pressure (referred to as intraocular pressure or IOP) can cause damage to the optic nerve. If glaucoma is left untreated vision loss or even blindness may occur.
Your body produces tears to keep your eyes comfortable throughout the day. Dry eye occurs when our tear layer is disrupted and can cause symptoms of irritation, burning, blur, gritty feeling, and watery eyes. The single most common symptom of dry eyes is watering eyes! Other symptoms include intermittently (on and off) blurred vision, eye burning, eye stinging, eye heaviness, and eye fatigue.
Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) is a disease that affects the retina in the back of your eye. ARMD causes loss of central vision by damaging the macula, which is the center of the retina. There are two types of macular degeneration: dry and wet. The dry type of ARMD is often slowly progressive while the wet type of ARMD can cause vision problems very quickly.

The girls at Azar eye clinic helped my dad and I tremendously.. it was storming outside and we had went to two wrong doors so needless to say we were soaking wet. They equipped us with each a blanket to keep us warm while we were there. Dr. Graul was absolutely fantastic and everything so thorough. I'd recommend them to anyone.

My grandmother recently had a eye appointment at Azars eye clinic. I must say the appointment went great. The receptionist at the front desk (Tricia) I believe that was her name was GREAT. She greeted us with a smile and was helpful with some basic questions I had. I would recommend Azars to my friends and family.

This is the best eye doctor I have been to. Everyone is so nice and the doctors are so considerate. They check every issue I have whether it is serious or not. I hate people being close to my eyes and get scared but they are patient and work with me. I love the doctor and would highly recommend this clinic.
