The iconic 30 year historic dive bar formerly known as the Elbo Room has been revived as The Valencia Room. Our mission is to preserve the culture of this iconic bar and music venue indelible to the Mission District. We are excited at the opportunity to provide the entertainment services that anchor San Francisco's appetite for small music venues and casual, comfortable bars.

This place is very 50/50 depending when you go and how early you get there. You’re paying cover 95% of the time. Cover goes from $20+ depending on how packed it is. There’s usually a line then you pay to get in and they only let you into a the bottom part of the club which is a bar and an opener DJ. Upstairs won’t open until 11 and not everyone will be let in depending on capacity upstairs. Usually have good DJs up and downstairs. Ok drinks nothing special. Rude security every time I’ve went. They also have security taking side money and letting randoms in. I wouldn’t plan my night around

Super long wait just to get in and literally have no where to walk or stand! I asked one of their bouncers, a taller slim guy, how can we go upstairs to enjoy the music and dance and he was being VERY RUDE and didn't even treat me with any RESPECT! Though he would be friendly and patient with another girl who kept begging him to let her friend go upstairs too.. He literally just pushed me away. Definitely wasn't treated well here and this experience has changed my opinion about this place very much. The music is not great either.

The old Elbo Room has received an upgrade, well kinda. The old establishment seemed to have have a bit more flava but version 2.0 is less busy and definitely cleaner. I miss the arcade games though. My GF and I went to see a great locals Wednesday night comedy showcase which is just what we needed after a number of months staying in because of Covid-19. The comics are great and the only improvement I would ask for is a few more mocktails on the menu for us non-drinkers.

Love this club! Downstairs is more mellow than the top, security let us in VIP for free and we're so nice to my friend for her 22nd birthday! The drinks were strong and the atmosphere was amazing. The security guards did a good job keeping the peace and was worth the 20$ fee to get in. They really know how to party and 10/10 going again! Thank you Valencia Room for showing us a great time!

Wanted to try out this club and did not have a good experience. There was a pretty long line to get in and there was a $20 cover charge. After getting in, there’s a really small bar area with the only spot to really dance being the upstairs area. They wouldn’t let a group of 9 girls with 2 guys up for almost half an hour. Security was constantly flashing their lights and yelling at people to move back even though there was no space at all to move anywhere downstairs. They obviously let in more people than they could handle. The scene and people were kind of reckless too, some guys were throwing

CONS: There was a male bouncer/manager that was ridiculously rude to my friend and I on Halloween weekend. We were minding our own business at the bar when he told us to get off the bar seats because they didn't belong there. Very abrupt and stern tone when they were there and open to sit on. I told him "they were here when we arrived." Which he responded with "Ya they aren't suppose to be here.." So although we thought it was very rude we didn't think pay it any attention. Lottsa pretty friendly woman here who like to flirt and enjo y lively conversation..friendly bartender very good music being played~ not crowded~ good mixed drinks~ resonable liquor prices~ nice pplace too enjoy a few cocktails and be among a good crowd of people enjoying valencia st. And plenty of good places to eat within a couple of minutes of walking..burrito shops ..pizza places..indian food (curry dishes) indoor~ outdoor dining to go eateries etc..etc~ many types of different restuarants to please you!! Not worth the $20 cover. They only let you in the small first floor and when try to go to the second floor, the bouncer ask if you are a VIP or have a bracelet, which I have no idea what he was talking about. When I ask the guy at the door when I was leaving, he says “yeah, that door guy doesn’t let manny guys upstairs“. In general a poor experience for the entrance fee.

The bouncers are nice and I appreciate them helping me out last night,however, the security is rude. I understand that they need to put up a front in order to keep people out of the VIP section but last night I was a guest with my friends because they had a table up there. The security, instead of listening to me (I was trying to tell them my friends were behind the rope) started shoving me and shining a bright flashlight in my face while yelling at me to get out. I had to get my friends attention inside VIP in order for them to let me in. Anyways, just wanted to share my experience take with that

My experience at the Valencia Room was quite disappointing. I came here with a large group on a Saturday night, and it was suuuper busy - we were in line for at least 40mins! Once we finally reached the front, we were charged $20 each, but we couldn't even really experience much.
The second floor was blocked off because it was too full, and we couldn't even get onto the dance floor on the first floor because there were just too many people. It took at least 30mins of waiting for us to finally have just a liiiitle bit of space to ourselves. It felt way too tight & was quite dirty

Don't even bother reserving a spot on the guest list for free entry before 11 PM. This bar holds back the line on purpose to make everyone pay a 20$ entry fee. They claimed the bar was "packed" and that is why we had to wait. However when we finally got inside, there was plenty of room and it was not packed. There is literally no reason to reserve a spot unless you want to wait over an hour to get in for free. Not worth the time and I will not be coming back.

Oh also there's a $20 cover charge if you go in after 10pm on the weekend. Drinks were about $11-13 I think? Which I thought wasn't the worst.
All in all I had such a fun time and would totally go back. ALSO, make sure if you wanna get on the second floor you try to get in earlier in the night because

I don't know if this is due to a change in management, but they have a stupid dress code where you can only get in if you have a dress shirt. I had a jacket and plain white T-shirt on, and they wouldn't let me in. The guy in front of me had a sweater with literally three buttons, and they let him. If my white T HAD 2 buttons, I would be able to get in. Make that make sense to me.

I've always had a good experience coming here. The staff is always helpful and attentive. Last time I ordered the fried chicken & it came with rice & it was so bomb everyone wanted a bite. The drinks are typical pricing but strong so you get your money's worth! The music is always poppin & I've seen the line down the block! I came once before they fully opened up indoors and they had the dj booth set up with plexiglass outside, even people walking by were stopping to vibe to the music. The club says open at 10pm. They purposely hold the line and refuse anyone inside until 1035 and admit in slowly. How can you have a promotion free before 11 on guest list but you refuse to let the guest list line move? Go ahead and take your pictures and hold our line and then charge $25-30 for people that have been standing in line since 9pm. Come see for yourself. They will let 1 person in every 3 minutes from the guest list line. It is not free. Unless you line up at 8pm you will not get in free for guest list before 11pm. . But remember club doors opens at 10pm. 1st person gets admitted inside

If you are here just to get a mixed drink or beer, I would recommend going to another bar or going to an alc store and throwing a kickback at someone's place since they're really busy and it took a while to get drinks (around 45min-1hr, although maybe it was just the day I was here since they were understaffed). However, the waitress was really nice and gave us a few complimentary drinks on the house for the slow service. Also, if you do choose to drink outside, it's not too bad of an experience

If I could give zero stars I would. Firstly, I was charged $14 for a whiskey and ginger beer which is way too high. I could understand if it was a whiskey sour or an actual cocktail. Secondly, they automatically charge 18% gratuity no matter how small your party is. So yes even a party of 1 will be charged 18% gratuity. Thirdly, when I asked why their prices were so high I was told that "it's because ppl kept coming and ordering $300 worth of food and drinks and not tipping." So basically that falls on everyone else.
