Our mission is to enrich the lives of our community by providing excellence in veterinary care and service. Our philosophy was simple: Set the standard of medicine in the area and be a progressive leader in companion animal medicine. From our very humble beginnings we have strived to provide excellent care for our patients and excellent service for our clients.
We started in a small white house ( now Copperfield Chimney.) In 2011 the hospital moved to its current location allowing for an increase in services and care. We currently offer wellness, internal medicine, advanced diagnostics, dental, surgical, and behavioral medicine for cats and dogs. Although the location has changed the philosophy has not.

Dr. Banks grew up in the Lansing area and graduated from Grand Ledge high school. He graduated with honors from MSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After graduation, he accepted a job in the Grand Rapids area. This is when he began to fall in love with West Michigan. After working in the area for several years he decided this is where he wanted to plant roots and start his family.
At Northland Animal Hospital, preventative care is our priority. This means keeping your pet healthy throughout his or her life! We'll work with you to create a comprehensive plan involving the right vaccines on the right schedule, the right diet and any supplements or medications your four-legged friend might need.
As a child, allergies in my family kept me from having any pets. After high school graduation I moved to a mobile home park that allowed pets and you can bet it wasn't long before I started combing the local humane society for a companion. This picture was taken the day we put Harley down. It is sad but it conveys the bond I had with him for all those years.

All of the staff are so friendly and genuinely love their jobs and care about their patients. The care that our fur babies have recieved there has been amazing, when we got bad news about one of our dogs they were sympathetic and made sure to answer any and all questions all while assuring us that we were not and could never ask to many questions. They will welcome you with open arms and your fut baby will walk in with a wagging tail and happy because they will know they are going to be getting spoiled when they walk in!

Wanted to charge me over $500 for radiographs...I don’t mind spending money on my dogs, especially for their health and well being. But it’s costs less to get X-rays/radio graphs on my horses, and I have spent thousands of dollars on my horses. Not to mention how they handled my dog, I know we are not allowed in because of COVID but they handled my dog horribly and muzzled her, she was terrified when I took her out. Was hands down the worst experience I have had with a veterinarian.

Everything you want in a veterinary clinic. My dog is missing his life long buddy, who died just prior to Christmas and the doctor really helped with many suggestions to help. They also saved my daughter's Chihuahua's life by removing most of his teeth. He's very old and now acts like a youthful puppy again. If I had to complain about anything, it would be a slightly higher cost, but its worth the life of our four legged loved ones! Sadly, my baby had to be put to sleep.
