Family owned and operated, Chef Delgado has been bringing the Caribbean flavors of his childhood to the Birmingham metro area for 9 years. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the little Havana neighborhood of South Florida, he recreates the flavors of the Islands in every dish we serve. We treat every guest like a member of our family, hence our motto is "we are building a family not a business".
Come join us and experience a taste of the Caribbean. We specialize in delivery for businesses and residents in the downtown and Greater Birmingham areas. Our restaurant is also available for private events: weddings, business lunches, dinners, cocktail receptions, and more. We would love to discuss how to be a part of your next event.

I ordered from here and was told that my food will be ready in 10 minutes. The guy also stated that they close at 2 so please be on time. I live exactly 8 minutes away and when I reached to the restaurant my food order was not ready nor had it been placed. Waited over thirty minutes and then when we decided to leave the lady came out and says do u want the food or not. I replied y’all had taken a long time and the food was supposed to have been ready in ten minutes. I reached here at 1: 13 it’s now 1:58 she flagged her hand as if she was not interested in what I was saying and said Do you want

If you are Cuban, Boricua, or from S. Florida, Miami Fusion Cafe is probably the only place in Birmingham where you can get food that will remind you of home. Right off the bat I will tell you, this is a FUSION restaurant. Meaning you will see food that is Cuban, Puerto Rican, and yes even some typical American influence (like french fries).
It is the closest thing to a Miami style Cuban Sandwich you will get in Birmingham, and the lechon is as good as you will find anywhere in Miami - I mean that! It's actually authentic.
If you've never been, I highly suggest giving it a try! The

So delicious and flavorful! I loved it! Me and my friends were in town for a convention and decided to try to eat some good Latin food on a Monday before we head back outta town. I just want to say the front counter girl and the chef were both very friendly! And the food was amazing! Very flavorful!! I had wanted a certain dish to try, but it was still cooking. So I got something else which was amazin btw! And before we left, she brought out a few samples of the first dish I originally wanted, just so we could try it. How awesome is that? Truly a great experience! Great customer service! We will

My boyfriend & I just had lunch here & it was absolutely amazing. Fantastic service, the owner was extremely friendly. I got the roasted pork plate with red beans, rice, & a salad. It was a generous portion for the low price & im excited to have the leftovers. My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich & he said it’s the best one he’s ever had (I agree). We finished with a Cafe con leche coffee and a guava & cheese pastry which was a perfect way to top off our meal. Definitely will be coming back very frequently!!

Ok so I ordered for Miami Fusion Cafe via DoorDash, when my food arrived I noticed that the soda pop I ordered was scan one instead of a 20oz Pepsi, then I open my bag only to find out my order was straight wrong although I was charged for what I asked for I didn't receive it which was empanadas, red beans and rice along with a pan con Lechon, I ONLY got the sandwich, which means they owe me money back, this is very unexceptionable. Now who's gonna rectify this !!!!!!!'nn

I never take the type to write reviews but Miami Fusion deserved a shout out. First of all, the mofongo is absolutely AMAZING ordered as is (I got it with pork and black beans), secondly the owners went above and beyond to take care of me. Just an awesome place and awesome people. Can’t wait to dine in and experience a date night with live music fun!

I have decided to write this in a personal level. For me to tear up when thinking about my old home in Orlando, with bite means a lot. It is delicious, personable, familial, and knows how to run itself. Long gone are the days of me seeking idiotic corporate chains. I promise myself to seek personally owned cafés. Also, I can tell the family is very happy here, in Birmingham, and everyone gets along great. If you wish to know more, please visit.

Update 09-14-20
So we stopped by Miami Fusion Cafe today while in downtown Birmingham. Thought we would give them a try.
Nice, clean dining room with modern digital menu. Was greeted by the owners daughter who took our order and was very polite!
I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and fries. The steak was moist and well seasoned. Came with generous toppings of cheese, onions, red and green peppers. Bun was warm and fresh. Fries were fried crisp and hot.
Wife got the pork plate with red beans and rice. Meat was moist and warm, needed just a touch of salt for my taste. Red beans and rice had nice

SUPER grateful to have found this gem of a spot on our travels, this place reminds me of my most favorite place in Miami! We had the steak bowls with black beans and it was super fresh and DELICIOUS...the sauce and spices were on point and to perfection!! Perfect healthier but tasty meal that won't leave you feeling really lethargic. The Cafe con leche was so good as well and can't wait for our Jesus cake (tres leches). I love that this is a family owned small business, the owner Samantha and her kids were so welcoming and kind. I'd HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking

Questionable commitment to health and safety requirements and community engagement.
Owner publicly compared wearing a mask to abortions. States masks aren't necessary. Compared to trans and opposes trans. Opposes LGBTQ.
How can we trust you to follow FDA and food safety guidelines and you don't even agree with wearing masks (a legal mandate)?
How can you reside in bham and have so much hate for the hospital and local community?

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Birmingham. I have brought several friends here, all of which have loved it. I've eaten only in the store and via takeout, I've not yet eaten from the food truck (el conquistador). The restaurant itself is lovely and reminds me of Miami.
Here's the part that should make my review most relevant - I AM CUBAN! My family makes Cuban food from scratch for all holidays and special occasions. I have very high standards for Cuban food. I LOVE Miami Fusion Cafe! It's everything a family restaurant should be. The food here is very authentic

The mofongo is great. A must-try for someone who hasn't had it before. My Puerto Rican friends say Miami Fusion is legit PR food, compared to some other places in Bham. I've been to the restaurant and now the food truck too.
I had to go with chicken instead of pork (which ran out) on the mofongo, but it was still delicious. Mofongo, chicken, beans, and rice. Great combo that really had the homemade vibe. They don't skimp on the portions either (especially for a food truck)! I got a free Jamaican beef patty while standing in line! And, I also had the Jesus cake to finish

In town for a church event at the Cathedral of the Advent, MFC was a convenient place for a bite before electing our next Bishop! Three members of my parish were already wrapping up their lunch at MFC when I joined them. The owner was super friendly and kept really busy.
I went with the Cuban sandwich w/ fries and coffee and water. The fries were sooooo good and the Cuban coffee was excellent! It was in a tiny cup, with a slight sweetness, some froth and more like espresso. It kept me going through the voting process!

If you love Cuban & Puerto Rican cuisine, this is your place. I have been to Puerto Rico several times and the food here is very comparable to the authentic dishes over in the Caribbean. The service is friendly and also very fast. But come here for the food and you won't be disappointed. The hours are very limited, however. They are only open for lunch from 10-3 Monday-Friday, so make sure to make plans to visit for lunch!
A friend of mine and I came here for the first time and decided to split a bunch of menu items so we could try different things. Together we ordered the Cuban sandwich

As many times as I have come to this restaurant I have not reviewed it.
I have tried many dishes from their sandwiches to almost all their different plates.
On a recent visit I had their special "Sancocho" which to describe in one word it was "heavenly". Sancocho is a soup that includes different Meats, vegetables, yuca, and plantain. Is very hard to describe the soup, but it felt like what my grandma would make on a very cold day to keep us all warm. The dish came with some tostones and white rice on the side. I really savor eating the tostones with the sauce they have on the

We don't get down town often so we look for an adventure close by. Miami Fusion fit the bill. It was not to far of a walk from the BJCC on a 90+ deg day and we sat outside, ok the humidity was low.
It's an order at the counter and they deliver to your table. They were patient with the newbies. Really liked the vibe of this family run business, saw some interaction with customers that showed hospitality and intention to customers.
Zinybob ordered the Roasted Pork plate with rice, beans of your choice & a side salad. Pork was tender and flavorful, black beans cooked to perfection,

My wife and I rarely are able to get lunch together during the work week. But while she was on jury duty, we were provided the opportunity for a couple of days. Miami Fusion Cafe is a place that has been on my radar for a while and this was a perfect opportunity to check it out.
With it being downtown, the only tricky part is figuring out parking. There is a deck across the street and I can usually find street spots... just make sure to remember your quarters.
