Cushing Square Veterinary Clinic was founded by our dearest friend Dr Mohammed Emara over 35 years ago as a small community animal hospital providing personalized loving care to the pets of Belmont, Watertown, Waltham, Lexington and Cambridge. Dr Dawn Binder was one of his first clients! They have remained friends all these years.
Dawn bought the clinic in September of 2013 when Dr Emara retired. She brought with her a passion for all living creatures and for forming a lasting bond with her patients and their families. In March of 2017 Dawn hired her friend, Dr Maryellen Starble. Maryellen and Dawn have been friends for over 20 years and work really well together as a team to provide the very best care possible for your furry loved ones.

Established in 1982, Cushing Square Veterinary Clinic provides the highest quality care for its patients. In addition, the clinic provides veterinary medical & surgical services and provides professional services for the town of Belmont rabies clinics. Cushing Square Veterinary Clinic is proud to serve the Belmont, MA area for everything pet-related.
Owner of Cushing Square Veterinary Clinic, earned my degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary medicine in 1995. I was raised in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School in 1987. My parents still live in Belmont and drop by with staff snacks and to pat the stray kitties all the time!
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come in immediately.
In your search for a veterinary facility, we believe you should expect high quality care as well as great service. Our goal has been to assemble a veterinary health care team committed to providing exceptional client service and veterinary health care. Our commitment to you is to continue to offer our world class service and a state of the art veterinary facility.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill. 2. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) checks and cash. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card.

Can’t say enough positive things about the staff at Cushing Square. My family has trusted in Dr Binder since I was a kid and when I got a dog of my own there was no where else I was comfortable bringing him. After a 2 year battle with lymphoma Dr Binder took the time out of her day to call me and talk me through my tears and guide me into trusting myself to know when it was time to say goodbye to him. Thank you to the staff for loving our pets as much as you do every visit.

There are not enough words to convey how skilled, compassionate, kind and understanding the staff of Cushing Square Vet has been throughout my time bringing my pets there (12+ years, including time before Dr. Emara retired). Dr Binder is an outstanding professional. She is compassionate, caring and extremely knowledgeable at the same time. She and her staff took great care of our very sick cat and her gentle and reassuring manner was so soothing at the time when we were already preparing to lose our little fur baby. She took the time to explain the diagnosis and the treatment options and was available when we needed additional help. Everyone we encountered during our first vet visit with our young puppy was incredibly professional and kind. They made us feel reassured and patiently explained the care. We received some potentially bad news about our pup (genetic issues) but Dr. Binder delivered it in a supportive, empathetic way. She and the other staff are examples of the type of people we need more of in the world!

Dr. Binder, Jen and the rest of the amazing staff at Cushing are beyond the best. Our pup Bowie is just a BIT accident prone and they have provided excellent emergency care on more than one occasion, including all staying late to make sure she was okay. We always know that Bowie is in the best possible hands.

Our golden retriever Reilly has been a patient at Cushing Square since she was born in 2005. Sadly, we sent her across the Rainbow Bridge on Monday morning. I cannot say enough about Dr. Binder. Not only is she so knowledgeable and smart, she showed such kindness and compassion toward us and my children as we said goodbye to Reilly for the last time. The entire staff is wonderful, especially the vet tech Brad who has known and cared for Reilly since she was a puppy. I highly recommend this wonderful practice. ❤🐾
