The Auto Inn is one of the best Motel in Newcastle. The motel is located at the outskirts of the Black Hills National Forest, and is a short drive from many of the attractions in the Hills, most notably Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower National Monument and the natural beauty and wildlife of Custer State Park.
We located 45 mins Devils Tower, an hour from historic Deadwood, an hour from Mount Rushmore and Keystone. Our motel features a 30 unit campground with full hook ups, on site laundry room, grassed and wooded areas on the compound that guests will be able to enjoy nature and the occasional wildlife, be it the jack rabbits that can be found roam year round to wild turkeys in the fall and white tail deer and antelope.

Staff was polite and quick to check us in.
The building is made of cinder blocks, so noise between rooms is not an issue. There is a little road noise but not terrible. Our AC was older and not digital, the dial said 55° but the room never got much colder than 75°. Bathroom fan didn't work, but everything else did. Overall not a bad place to stay.

This is one of a two Indian-owned motel group, the other being the Fountain Inn across town (from which I was directed here). I stayed at the RV park, so my review is limited to that. Apart from the usual menacing sign about unreported dog guests (typical of an Indian owned property, in my experience – staying in my RV, I figured I needn't fret about bringing Mike in), check-in was simple and fast.
The park seemed rather small but at around 65% occupied I had my choice of spots. The $30 / night I paid was the market price for my 18-foot pop-up. The bathrooms were clean and close-by. The park

If you end up like we did, with no other place to stay, it will do. Other than that...keep driving. Not necessarily filthy, but not real clean either. The AC was broken and appeared to be so for some time, but the owner/manager appeared surprised. The TV picture was inverted and mirrored. I assume ot was hacked by a previous guest as a prank, but I was too tired to care and just physically turned the TV upside-down to make it somewhat watchable. Again the act of surprise from the staff, but not what you would expect when we showed her. They did give us 50% off, but that was still too much to pay

We were traveling in WY and stayed at the Auto Inn Motel in Newcastle. We got a great nights sleep and the room was comfortable and quiet. The next day we went on our way. In leaving the Motel, an inexpensive cell phone was left in the room. The phone had no real value, it cost roughly $25 when purchased years back. However, it had a Great Personal value. We got about 100 miles before we realized it was missing. I called the motel and they had found the phone. They immediately mailed it to my home in Wisconsin. Their integrity is awesome and I can't thank them enough for going out of their way
