COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. The staff also wear gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between customers.
While I was here to see doctor Chen for a follow up appointment, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment.
Parking: There is quite a lot of parking spots in the back of the building

There are so many bad reviews on here I cannot relate to! I love Dr. Chen and everyone working here! Although, I have braces on longer than I ever anticipated (part my fault for not coming here for a year because I moved to OC) ... also, I did have them finished and removed, but I had to have them put back on for a minor fix I wanted and Dr. Chen didn't charge me too much for it. I was not super happy with a tiny gap in the middle of my front teeth and Dr. Chen gladly added them back and is currently fixing them as of now. Yes, Dr. Chen is slightly cheaper but that does not mean his work isn

Dr.Chen is alright. There is only one orthodontist working so it takes sometime for it to be your turn. One of my family members recommended me here. They only reason I gave it three stars is because of the waiting time. It could take up to 1 hour to 2 hours for it to be your turn. But the braces price is super cheap.

Wow can't believe he is still in business. Yes I call it a business because he tries to pack in as many patients as he can. With appointment, it was like 2+ hour wait! Imagine going here afterschool during junior high and having to complete all your homework assignments, doing activities and having to juggle waiting here. I would like to think that my dentist would have been someone I trusted with my teeth but I couldn't have been more mistaken with this thought. I needed to get my retainers fixed or get new retainers, but this dentist does a poor job in fixing them.

I had to wait HOURS before I can pick up my retainers to which I've made an appointment to just pick up! I politely ask the receptionist if I could just get my retainers and go because I had to something urgent to attend to right after my appointment but no. The receptionist condescendingly

I came here in middle school a long time ago and still detest the place every time i think about it. i got braces then, and need invisalign now as an adult. Dr. Chen didn't do a good job--- what a waste of my parents money. it was never a comfortable experience either. wait in the waiting room. get called in, sit along a bunch of chairs against the wall and wait again. keep sitting, getting up, and moving down one until you finally land in the treatment chair.
He never gave me color choices for rubber bands to accessorize my braces. Also, he broke brackets in my mouth while I was there,

I stopped coming here nearly a decade ago but I still remember the terrifying nightmare that was Dr Howard Chen.
Appointments are always delayed, doesn't matter if you arrive early. Wait 30 minutes in the front waiting room, then they call my name, and I would be brought back to the SECOND waiting room where I would wait an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour.
While I appreciate gentleness and respect, I also don't expect my dentist to coddle me like a baby. But Dr Chen treats his patients with literally ZERO consideration. He shaves down teeth when he wants to and doesn't tell you

Would not recommend this Orthodontist!! It's true, he is known to have budget-friendly costs BUT spare yourself the nightmare if possible and go elsewhere. If you can deal with staff rudeness and have a higher level of pain tolerance in order to save you a penny then that's on you. With all the reviews here saying many similar negative things about this practice, don't say we didn't warn you.
The office ALWAYS has long waits. Even if you're given an appt, appointments are worthless. Appts appear to be typically double-booked and you will always be there to wait a minimum

He does his job and his prices are cheaper than a lot of other orthodontists. The wait times (regardless of appointment times or how early you come) are always more than one hour. They even have a sign in the front, warning you about this and they always overbook. The women in the front are rude and the doctor seems apathetic.
That being said, he gets the job done and the results are good. If you only care about straight teeth, and not the attitudes of the people who work here, this place is a dream come true. If you want reasonable wait times and pleasant workers, this is the wrong place.

Mixed feelings about this place.
I used to like going here because my doctor was very PATIENT (no pun intended), sweet and good. He moved to Cerritos ( I think) and all the doctors after that sux.
I remember this female Filipina doctor who was always late. She was late twice and I went there before work and during my lunch time. Imagine how upset I was. Then there was another doctor who was super rude and did a sloppy job. I couldn't floss that night. My cheek actually got cut when I got my teeth cleaned. He's the busiest orthodontist in the area; he's the go to guy for asians in the SGV. Quite possibly because he will haggle prices with you, asian style. Which I'm pretty sure my mother did. But I'm quite sure my insurance covered $1000, and the other $2000 my mother paid in installments; tax-free, you know, asian style.
I had to have one tooth pulled prior to installation, it hurt more than childbirth itself, I know it!! Probably because my childhood dentist is a selfish c**t who doesn't care if you tell her you can feel everything because she only waited 5 minutes
