As an experienced, licensed psychotherapist, I provide therapy for adults for a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression and relationship problems. My psychotherapy office is located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, also convenient to southern Marin. By establishing a trusting relationship, together we explore thoughts and feelings you find troublesome.

Services
Different theories suggest different methods of addressing psychological pain. In every case, however, the strength of the bond between therapist and client is of paramount importance. Positive interaction between client and therapist provides a model relationship, one based on compassion, comfort, understanding and care.
I spend the first few sessions getting to know the person I am working with. I listen to their life story so I can understand the facts of their life, as well as how they view and interpret those facts. Learning about someone's family history as well as the present circumstances of his or her life helps me identify and understand his or her strengths and weaknesses.
If you feel that something is awry inside you and worry excessively, sometimes about specific problems and sometimes about a myriad of different worries, psychotherapy can provide relief. I work with people who live seemingly full lives yet need someone to confide in for any number of reasons. Part of my practice has included working with folks who live with chronic pain or are faced with a life threatening illnesses.
Since 1988, I have worked as a therapist in a private practice setting. I gained experience working with diverse communities at Catholic Charities, Head Start, and the AIDS Health Project, in addition to working with clients who have been victims of crime.
Haight Ashbury Psychological Services and the California School of Integral Studies both offer training programs to interns preparing for licensure; I have supervised students through these programs.Offering therapy to those who would not otherwise have access to treatment has always been a part of my professional life.

Gloria is an experienced and highly-skilled psychotherapist. I've had the privilege of working with her in a number of contexts, including two ongoing consultation groups, as well as our mutual involvement in the Existential-Humanistic Institute, a learning community in the Bay Area dedicated to providing individualized training in E-H therapy for clinicians.

Gloria and I were fellow group members for a number of years through an organization called A Home Within, which provides pro-bono therapy to individuals in the foster care system. During our time together, I came to know Gloria as a patient, thoughtful, and respectful clinician who was fully dedicated to the well being of her clients. Her contributions to the group were insightful, creative, and welcomed as a way to expand the dialogue about clients.

My communication style is often incoherent and she manages to pinpoint the real concerns and keep me from digressing. She doesn't allow my obstinacy to affect her attitude or our work.
