Straight teeth not only look good, but are also important for effective biting, chewing, and speaking. Straight teeth are easier to keep clean, thereby increasing not only dental health, but also overall physical health. Orthodontic problems usually get worse. Teeth that are out of alignment can contribute to poor esthetics and improper facial development.

Services
It's best for the orthodontist to see children by age 7 to determine whether orthodontic treatment is required, and whether treatment should begin right away or should wait until the child is older. Treatment is not usually started at age 8 unless severe problems exist which will affect the way the teeth or jaws grow.
Cutting-edge technology is used to custom manufacture each aligner for your teeth based on a personalized treatment plan to give you a smile that fits you. Not only are Invisalign aligners nearly invisible and much less noticeable than braces, they are removable and comfortable. Unlike braces, you are able to remove the aligners throughout the day allowing you to eat more of the foods you enjoy and brush and floss as usual.
While the general dentist typically refers children and adults to an orthodontist, you do not need a referral. With or without a referral, Dr. Carter will consult and communicate with your dentist about your diagnosis and treatment. Children, according to the American Association of Orthodontics, should be seen no later than 7 years old but possibly earlier if a problem is detected by a dentist or physician.
If you have a problem we can't help you with over the phone, we'll then be happy to schedule an appointment during regular office hours or, if necessary, arrange to meet afterhours. Most of the problems that occur with orthodontic appliances are minor and can be taken care of by you at home to make you more comfortable until you are able to schedule an appointment.
