Our top concerns are your comfort, smile needs, and clinical requirements. We look forward to getting to know you and your child and creating a smile plan specifically for you. We know how scary it can be to go to the dentist and orthodontist. Many people are afraid to come in, so we do everything that we can to create a calm and comfortable environment.
I began working with Dr. McDonald in 1998. My own daughters were in treatment here and after having such a wonderful experience I knew I wanted to be involved with this great group of people to help change lives by giving people a smile to be proud of. It's a big step to come to the orthodontist for the first time.
While all orthodontists may appear to be the same, there can be lots of differences right below the surface. Choosing an orthodontist is like adding a member to your family. If you have multiple children who are several years apart, you could be visiting the orthodontist for five or ten years, while they are getting ready for treatment through their last retainer check.
Over the years, we have heard time and time and time again from patients who have had multiple ortho consultations that our initial exam and consult are the most comprehensive and in-depth of any they have had. It's just the way that Dr. John is-thorough, comprehensive (and a little nerdy, when it comes to orthodontics).
What's the difference between Smile Care Direct and getting Invisalign from the orthodontist? Invisalign and braces can treat a wide number of cases equally well. There are still lots of situations where Invisalign, or clear aligners, are not as effective as braces. The important take-home point is to understand whether braces are just a little better for your case or braces are a lot better than Invisalign for your case.

Dr. McDonald is extremely attentive and takes the time to get to know you and your smile needs on a personal level. I felt fortunate to have Allison assisting Dr. McDonald as they navigated plans to construct my new smile. Everyone in the office goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend this incredible team to anyone planning to have braces in their future.

I am 25 years old with a upper narrow bite and I had went to many orthodontist consultations in the Salem/Keizer area before finally choosing my man Dr. McDonald/his amazingly wonderful staff that I just look forward to seeing every appointment.
Also my girlfriend and her sister got work done when they were younger and they still have the most beautiful smiles to this day.
He was the only one in the area that can do the maxillary expander without having to go all the way to Portland and my dentist even recommended him (Salem Family Cosmetic

McDonald's orthodontics is a great office! We started going when my son was 7. They are so patient and kind with the kids. They always make sure he is comfortable and not scared. Then there are the ortho bucks they give out to the kids to earn prizes. Great motivation for oral hygiene. Highly recommend their offices.
