I have struggled with depression for a long time. I had even seen other counselors. Randy Simmonds helped me realize that for me, I was really struggling with a crisis of faith and how I fit into God's love. Finding those answers helped me find the peace I had been searching for for years. The Samaritan Counseling Center provides emotional healing, guidance and support through professional, spiritually-integrated counseling and education.

Our marriage seemed like more of a struggle than anything else. By the time we came in for counseling, both of us were thinking that divorce was the only solution. But it did not take us long to figure out that we had not really been communicating very well, or rather, that we were not hearing what the other person was saying and we were making assumptions that were just not valid.

Things in my life were pretty screwed up, and when my parents told me I was going to see a counselor, I wanted to tell them to shove it. Working with Meredith Van Ness was completely different than what I thought. She actually got it. She helped me figure some stuff out too. And she gave me some tools which have really helped me cope.
I had never realized how much alcohol was affecting my life until I started working with April Wilson. Through her non-judgmental approach, I was able to begin examining what was happening, not just to me, but to all the people I loved. Whether it is chocolate, caffeine, nicotine, exercise, sex, gambling, alcohol, prescriptions, or a street drug, all of us at one time or another probably have wondered if we were addicted to something.
I came into counseling when my mother died unexpectedly. It was like having the rug pulled out from under me. Suddenly, I did not know who I was any more. I had not realized how important my mother was to my own self-identity. I had a lot of crying to do, and I had a lot of questions to answer about what my own life was about.

I saw them through my EAP. I was hesitant because of the religious connections but they claimed they can do non-religion based services. I only went once and it felt very religious as he came up with "what vow did you make yourself that you are not breaking" never went back. They could probably help people that are not as extreme atheist as myself but I will not go back.
