Fully accredited as a clinical and educational site by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the Center also offers education and consultation services.

Services
The Center for Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago was founded as a counseling service in 1965 by Chicago Loop clergy who wished to make referrals to a religiously-oriented service, and by seminary faculty desiring to send seminary students for training in counseling. It began as the Pastoral Counseling Department of the Church Federation of Greater Chicago, a conciliar body of twenty-seven denominations.

With heavy hearts, we watched our country unravel as deep-seated systemic issues of racism and bigotry came to the fore. Even self-identified progressive institutions came to recognize in their ranks a complacency and complicity in the problem at large. At the Center for Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago, we too looked inward.

People come to the Center from the Chicagoland area, representing a variety of social, economic, ethnic, racial, and both religious and non-religious backgrounds.
The Center for Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago offers a two-year, part-time Advanced Certificate Program in Self Psychology and Religion, which is fully accredited by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC). Based on the Center's integrative, MULTI-FAITH model, this program is designed for a variety of graduate and professional students.
