The New Mexico Academy of Family Physicians exists to improve the health of the people of New Mexico by supporting and advancing the specialty of Family Medicine and serving the needs of our members. A Family Physician is a medical doctor who specializes in Family Medicine. Family doctors provide continuity of care for individuals and families over the life span.
The specialty integrates body, mind, and spirit in caring for the whole patient. The scope of Family Medicine encompasses all ages, genders, organ systems, and disease entities. Family Medicine Physicians provide primary care for life. Before coming to the NMAFP, Sara directed another professional organization of healthcare providers.

Opportunities for participation in your Chapter are always available, and we welcome your participation. Our goal is to represent all parts of New Mexico. The New Mexico Chapter of the AAFP represents all Family Medicine members in New Mexico. AAFP policies are determined by a Congress of Delegates that meets annually in conjunction with the AAFP Family Medicine Experience.
