We provide specialty care for those facing life limiting illness as well as support to their loved ones. Hospice is a medical specialty. Just as Cardiology is specialty care of the heart, hospice is specialty care at end of life. The emphasis of hospice care is on comfort and quality of life when life options are limited.
Palliative Care is a specialty that focuses on relieving and preventing the symptoms associated with chronic illness, with a goal of improving quality of life. Physician to physician consultations are available to discuss your patient's prognosis, eligibility, and symptom management or for them to meet with your patient to discuss hospice/palliative care.

The idea of having our own hospice came as a necessity for the three of us. Having cared for frail and homebound patients in our community for many years, we each witnessed the breakdown of care that can occur as patients transition to hospice. It was our specialty training in hospice, and appreciation of our patients' needs during those times, that motivated us to be owners to be able to direct the care the way we knew it should be done.
As a healthcare provider, we understand you want the very best hospice care for your patients. Our Board Certified Hospice Physicians are here to help you in the care of your patients as they approach the end of their lives. Call 505-872-2300 for a consultation with one of our Physicians to discuss your patient's prognosis, eligibility, and symptom management or for them to meet with your patient to discuss hospice/ palliative care.
Hospice care is about relief of suffering. Pain is one form of suffering, however pain can be addressed by approaches other than just medications. While medications can be crucial for some patients, it's not the only way to address pain. Pain may be physical, emotional or spiritual, and each requires a different therapeutic approach.
Palliative care is provided by our specialists who who work together with a patient's other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. Palliative care may be right for you if you are experiencing pain, stress and other symptoms due to a serious illness. Serious illnesses include but are not limited to: cancer, cardiac disease, respiratory disease, kidney failure, Alzheimer's, AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis.
Choosing hospice does not mean that you are giving up hope. It means that you have opted to focus on quality of life and for treatments that will help manage various medical symptoms. Hospice allows you to feel comfortable and provides support in order for you to have control over your life. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones dying.

I had the pleasure of working with great amazing people my fellow colleagues and peers. I worked there before the pandemic and during the pandemic. I’m still in awe how they took care of us staff and patients during the beginning of the pandemic. Truly amazing! The company is family orientated. They really work as a team. I can go on and on about everyone and the owners how amazing they are. Adam is the best Director of nursing I have ever worked for truly a genuine person. Fun work environment very meaningful workplace to work at or volunteer.

Last month, I contacted Hospice of New Mexico for grief counseling after the death of my brother. In the space of two months, my counselor forgot two of our appointments, and then today, he missed a third without notifying me that he'd been called away to deal with another client's situation. I understand that unforeseen things happen, but a clinician should take a moment to let someone know that they've been called away. It takes thirty seconds to send a text, or to ask someone in the office to do so.
My grief is very fresh, and each time my counselor failed to show up, I ended up in tears.

From the minute my Dad entered Hospice care with Hospice of New Mexico, every single person went above and beyond for him. The care that he got was impeccable and the support I received from them was phenomenal. Even the medical supply company was at our beck and call. If I needed something, they came out, sometimes several times a day. The early morning before my Dad passed, Aaron was the nurse that came to my home. He was my angel! I thank God he was there. He was calming and explained and answered all my questions. I truly believe his career path is his calling! I cannot thank every single person

Nurses listen, but constant response is " we don't help with respite for caregivers." Intially when my husband and his mom choose this Hospice taking care of caregivers was part of their services. He is begging for some relief from taking care of his mom for 17 months now. All I can say is Hospice doesn't work this poorly in other states, whether it is Covid-19 or not now. Caregivers need to be given regular relief as this is mentally draining on them too. If you are a caregiver looking at this respite please know they will not provide you with any sort of respite to allow you time to breath.
