EL Rods On The Frio
EL Rods on the Frio is a newly renovated RV park situated on 14 acres along the Frio with exclusive river frontage. We are located 2 miles north of Garner State Park and our address is 1101 Cold Spring Ranch Rd Concan, TX. We currently offer 47 full hookup RV sites with 30 and 50 amp connections available at every site.

The PREMIUM RV sites are heavily shaded from many tall mature oak trees. The STANDARD RV (non-shaded) sites offer great views of the night sky. Our river access is exclusively for guests of EL Rods. The two access points from the campground lead you down to the cool, clear, refreshing Frio River. Alongside the river you will notice our spring-fed pond where many of our junior campers enjoy fishing.
Services
Our camp store is open daily during peak season where you can find some basic necessities for your stay. We have items from bags of ice, river tubes, goggles, river shoes, as well as some fishing gear. We also have your favorite EL Rods merchandise available! Our newly built playground is ideal for the little ones!

Just spent a week at El Rods and we had the entire park to ourselves. We had a great experience and the owner, Eric, was there if we needed anything. He even reset the Wi-Fi router for us after a storm that… left us with spotty service. We stayed in spot #118 and had great shade and were within walking distance to the river. Overall it was a great RV spot! We will be back.

Just got back from a week at El Rods and we had a great time…..Had the whole park to ourselves! Eric, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. 👍🏼 Our only complaint (which is out of his control and not in any way the fault of El Rods) was our ATT cell service was spotty….just a heads up since I’ve seen lots of people asking about cell service. Overall, great trip 👍🏼 👍🏼

Looking for a place to unplug & unpack the beauty of the Frio? Look no further! El Rods on the river is waiting for YOU & your CREW!
The drive over from San Antonio was scenic and a welcomed experience from daily commuting in the city.
The campsites are well equipped with grills, picnic tables, fire rings.
Facilities are well kempt.
BIG need to KNOW ...they have a BYOTP policy.. bring your own toilet paper! So that's a first for us in all our travel, thankfully my hubby was notified and planned accordingly but other families were not so fortunate.
That being said we went off-season so the

The river was low but very nice and scenic. That is where it stops, the spots are a joke, not level or wide enough. Tree's are low and in the way of maneuvering trailers into spots. Septic tank in the middle of the campsite with cracked lids and smelled like sewer the whole time. Also, they were very rude on the phone when we were trying to check in. We paid for a day we could not get back because we couldn't make it by 5pm (because people work for a living), never have had this issue at other parks. Security guard is some useless teenager that makes up rules and can't provide list of rules, acts

Beautiful view and access to river. I'll say that and peaceful or thought it was
Security is like a late teen driving around trying to find someone to tell them what he doesn't think they should do. Following the rules doesn't keep u safe from more so called rules that still hasn't been shown
Hopefully the owner isn't aware of the so called security telling us that it's 10 30 when it's 9. All that was happening was us driving and saying hi as we passed by other friendly campers. Will update

Location was nice. Made policies up as they go. When we got there all they did was hand us a map. Then yell across the property at you when you did something wrong. I did read all policies on the website before getting there. We will not be returning. They made our stay uncomfortable.

El Rods does not disclose there are private homes the RV park faces instead of water. In the map it looks like trees etc. The homes have cats that roam the park freely at night, crawling over everything. The paths to get down to the water are both steep. Then once you get to the actual water you still have to climb down 2 smaller cliffs before you can get in- not user friendly. We paid extra for a premium (meaning shady) spot with trees. It rained 1 time and our shady sites turned into mud pits. Some people moved to the open grassy areas, while others got fed up with mud everywhere and just left

We have stayed twice this summer at Elrods on the Frio and absolutely loved each visit. The park is clean and management was super friendly and helpful. First time we stayed we had damage to an air conditioner… that occurred on the way. The management knew a repair guy and we had our air conditioner fixed in no time. Second visit was perfect no problems we wanted to do a two hour float with pickup and they helped us do just that! Nice spot on the river to float or swim. Definitely will be going back when ever possible.

First I will say if your website offers ammenities then you need to offer the amenities or else change what the website says. For the price we expected everything that was listed. The most important part was the shuttle up river to float. When we got here....that is when we found out there was NO shuttle running due to flat tires and noone to drive it. Unacceptable. We have class C and A RV's. In other words no vehicle transportation to the start of the float. Hence the reason we booked....their shuttle. The place is cramped...which isn't a huge deal. Nice river access to sit and hang

The ownership of El Rod is going to run this place into the ground. My parents rarely go on trips but love their RV and have been loyal customers to El Rod for a while. They’ve been looking forward to an upcoming trip for a while but unfortunately my dad has to get emergency knee surgery for a service related injury. My parents called at least a week in advance offering MRI, paperwork, etc. for any sort of refund or even just to move the date to a later time, giving them plenty of time in advance to find someone to fill the spot. The owner on the other end of the phone was nothing but extremely

3 nights on The Frio at EL Rods. I've seen mixed reviews for this campground. First of all, pick a "premium" site. We were in site 140 under large shade trees and were happy about that! The pad at our site was perfectly level and there is no one in front of you so the site is huge! The park seemed full, but not crowded. The river was low, but perfect for sitting! It was just a short walk down the hill. And, there's a little fishing pond. They are vocal about their rules, but the rules didn't seem like an overreach to us. I appreciate the strict rules, unfortunately they

E L Rods is absolutely gorgeous. On the drive there I passed by other parts of the Frio and at 8 am they were already packed.

I love that E L Rods limits access to the Frio to their customers. It truly is the most beautiful spot on the Frio. It is peaceful and clean. I never saw one piece of trash in the river or on the property. The staff was wonderful and courteous. I can't wait to go back.

This is a new RV park in our neighborhood. They have over 50 campsites and sell day passes. The river is far too small for this many people, and there aren't many places to hang out, without upsetting landowners.

If I were a camper I wouldn't feel this was worth it. 100 people sharing a tiny swimming hole? And they have crammed people into the sites. It used to be a charming cabin area, but they tore all the vegetation out.
The neighbors have all complained that the owners are very rude.

So this place is super strict and not somewhere you would want to go with a group of friends. It's just more of a family venue with the rules.... 5mph at all times... you always have to have a wrist band or pay a fine.. and they have a quiet time at 11pm.. you can only park one car at a time at the site... even when unloading... the river was super low and nothing was listed on the site to warn anyone... the river was basically a hike. I will say that we had a friend get out of hand and they handled the situation very well and really helped us out. Probably won't be going back but the

Reserved a week but decided to shorten our reservation due to some other personal travel conflicts. We paid 50% up front but to shorten our reservation, we were told we had to pay the remaining balance before they'd adjust our reservation dates. Hmm, I paid for 3 nights already, want to adjust my reservation to be 3 nights and in order to do that I have to pay for an additional 4 nights that I won't use!!!! This took three emails and four phone calls (many phone calls where no one ever picked up) before it was clearly communicated. The 50% we already paid covered the shorter reservation
