Mental Health Association In Hawaii
The mission of Mental Health America of Hawaii is to promote mental wellness through education, advocacy, and service. We endeavor to reduce the stigma of mental illness and improve the overall care, treatment and empowerment of those with mental illnesses - children, adults, elders - and their families.

Virtually every family in this country is touched in some way by mental illnesses - in fact, one in five people in America have a diagnosable mental health condition. Through our leadership, we expand mental health awareness, understanding, and action. We advocate to ensure that people with mental health problems have the quality services they deserve.
Services
We are here to promote mental wellness through education, advocacy, and service. If you want assistance in getting help for mental health issues (services, programs, etc.), please call our Statewide Office on Oahu at (808) 521-1846 or our Branch Office on Maui at (808) 242-6461. Our office staff is available Monday through Friday from 9am-4:30pm.
Hawaii has a significant rate of youth who suffer from depression and manifest suicidal behavior, and of college students whose mental health problems are not being treated. Mental Health America of Hawaii has developed several programs designed to address these problems, enabling them to develop fulfilling relationships, adapt to change, adopt appropriate coping mechanisms, navigate life's challenges, and realize their full potential.
When your feelings of sadness, irritability, anxiety or moodiness begin to interfere with your ability to function at work, in social situations, or at home, this may be a sign of a mental health disorder. There are many types and levels of these disorders.

Mental Health America of Hawaii offers assistance in getting help through our Help Line and Human Services Resource Directory, and we provide educational seminars, a "Live Your Life Well" workplace stress reduction presentation, and advocacy with the legislature and state agencies.We are all touched by mental illness - a friend, a loved one, a colleague, a neighbor, or ourselves.
One of Mental Health America of Hawaii's most important activities is to vigorously advocate on mental health issues at the Legislature and with state agencies, to act as a voice for those with serious mental illness. We have been doing this since 1942. Hawaii's Crisis Line: We and others have advocated for improvements in Hawaii's suicide crisis line, with the result that substantive changes were made in how it operates.
