Chaotic, disorganized office. I often wait an hour past my appointment time to be seen. The physicians and practitioners are fast, uneducated and incomplete in their examinations and diagnosis. I’ve twice been given treatment suggestions that were wrong. One was caught ahead of implementation by the head doc. The other time I went through a useless surgical procedure for no result. I DO NOT recommend using this office for anything life threatening or serious.

I really don't like leaving poor reviews but I feel it's necessary. One office staff member is so rude I am considering switching to another dermatologist. I can understand if you're having a bad a day; but I have witnessed the same lady be rude to other people in the office and both times that I called I was ridiculed for 1.) calling because I had a referral even though they said they don't call new patients (ok, cool don't have to be so rude about it); and 2.) Dr Kurgis took a specimen on my arm he suspected as a melanoma WITHOUT wearing a mask and after asking me to remove my mask. This was at the beginning of COVID. I was concerned beyond the COVID threat as this is not good practice without COVID. I worried about Staph. When I returned to have the Melanoma (yes it turned out to be so), I had to ask him to wear a mask to surgically remove the Melanoma. I do not feel safe with this doctor so found another. I am pleased to say I am now receiving great care from someone else.

I was really disappointed as this place was a referral. My Botox was GREAT at first, then I went in for my two week review and got a touch up which gave me saggy eyelids and brows. I looked 10 years older. I was told it couldn't be fixed and just needed to wait it out. Once my apt FINALLY came around again (3 months later), they called to reschedule after I had already confirmed, THE DAY I was supposed to get it redone. I had a trip to Vegas scheduled the following week. The tried to push me out another MONTH. Not happy. Will not be back.

I am sitting in the lobby for my first appointment and so far I am really disappointed. I am ok with waiting during these crazy times, that's not my issue today. I am a new patient so you would think that the front office staff would be nicer, not the case. Very, very RUDE!!! I am listening to their personal conversations which include curse words. No regard for me or the 2 other very elderly people in the lobby. Who both look horrified, by the way.

Dr. Kurgis is the best dermatologist I've been treated by. I am fair skinned with very blond hair and as a result of that and other genetic things and years in the sun - my skin is a mess. Actually, I'm embarrassed of all the damage on my face. After my appointment with Dr. Kurgis, I had hope that he and Kelly could help to repair my skin. I've been seeing them maybe once a year for a few years and my skin is better than I ever expected. I applaud Dr. Kurgis' diagnostic skills, his willingness to take on a "tough case", his attitude that he doesn't know it all

I have been a patient for many years in this office and have been happy with the services and products until now. Today I called for my annual check up and was refused an appointment due to one of my two insurance coverages being inactive. After explaining that our 2nd plan is still with Blue Shield, but changed the policy on April 1st to a new plan #. I am recovering from spinal surgery and was unable to produce my new ID# for the person on the phone. Again, I was refused an appointment. I told her to put me down as a cash account and we could straighten out the insurance later. Still was refused

Didn’t even make an actual appointment yet and I’m put off. Had a referral and attempted to make an appointment where the receptionist Darla was extremely rude and unhelpful right off the bat. Checked my insurance to clarify I had authorization, she rudely told me they didn’t have it yet and to have my insurance fax it over again. Ok fine, but when my insurance tried to call to get the fax number to resend it they informed me she was ALSO rude to them as well. Not sure I even want to join this office if this is how you get treated by staff.

Chad York, my new Dermatologist at Kurgis Dermatology is great! I had been on medication for my Psoriasis for years, having moved from Silicon Valley to Paso Robles recently. I come to find the medication I was on tears up some internal organs, and was the harshest for severe Psoriasis. I had cleared up 90%, but was never given any warnings. Dr. York immediately said we need to change meds, but I was being given the runaround between insurance, co-pay, and the manufacturer. He went to bat for me, doing the leg work to make it happen, and now there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I was a tiny bit concerned about the negative reviews here, but I'm glad I ignored them. I just wanted a competent dermatologist that could clear up my acne, I don't need someone to coddle me. I think some people forget doctor's office staff work in the healthcare industry, not hospitality :)! Anyway, all the staff I worked with at Dr. Kurgis's office were very nice and helpful, and my acne stopped in it's tracks with the treatment they prescribed. Literally a couple days later, no new spots, just started healing. Thank you Dr. Kurgis's office!

This review is strictly for their PA Chrissy. She is lovely, compassionate, and thorough. I had brutal all over body hives and she wrote out a step by step of products to buy, the prescriptions I was to pick up, and when to take/use said products/Rx's. She also didn't just assume anything and really investigated what caused the hives and other potential causes which would result in different treatment plan. I've had no issues with the staff. They laugh at my awkward jokes, so they're alright in my book.

I accompanied an elderly friend to Dr Kurgis for a routine appointment because my friend was suffering from dementia. A few months later we received a letter in the mail saying he was being dismissed as a patient due to nonpayment of a $30 bill. Thinking this a mistake (since a bill was never received and the amount was nominal) I called on behalf of my friend. I was really surprised at how abruptly this was handled by the front desk! Just "he didn't pay, he's no longer a patient here!" I tried to explain the following:

Called to make sure they could do a specific procedure. They assured us they did that procedure. Husband went in. Waited for the Dr (Chad). Dr. came in and says that they in fact do NOT do the procedure. Husband wasted 45 minutes, saw the Dr just long enough to be told that the receptionist was incorrect about the procedure. And yet, we received a bill for $100. A receptionist said that she didnt think he should be charged but the doctor insisted. Will not be returning, what a waste of time. And the fact that we were billed despite the screw up being on their end is atrocious.

Had my first visit today at this office and seen dr. Chad. My appointment was at 3:30 and I was seen at 3:35. The receptionist was friendly, polite, and courteous. Evan gave me directions when I got lost in the parking lot. The office is at suite b, just saying. Dr chad was great. Addressed each of my numerous concerns with a professional and courteous manner. I dont know about billing but no problems so far. I evan told my wife she has to go here.

I loved the PA Chad York, but Dr. Kurgis and his Staff are not friendly at all!! Also Dr. Kurgis isn't the greatest driver, he almost hits me while in his office parking lot, and then again on highway 101 heading to south, when he almost side swipes me because he wasn't paying attention when he was speeding. I thought doctors where suppose to be more careful!

When I went to Dr. Kurgis' office, I was in a very vulnerable state. I had reached a limit trying to cope with my skin and treat it via holistic, natural approaches; my skin began responding pretty severely to my decision to discontinue use of oral contraceptive pill a couple months prior. My skin was covered with severe cystic acne, with swelling, redness, inflammation, and general discomfort. I went to the appointment without make-up, feeling vulnerable and sad that I was unable to find success with the many holistic, natural approaches I was already implementing; but I knew I needed relief

I think I am still in shock from my experience with Dr Kurgis and his staff. My first visit Dr Kurgis came in and looked as if he were on drugs his pupils were like olives. He has horrible bedside manner. I made another appointment when I was leaving but later called to cancel. I then received several bills in the mail that had not been covered by insurance, uhhh....They were billing my insurance and I wasnt even going to them! Stay away people
