Family owned and operated since 1987, the Heritage House Restaurant is Central Maine's premier destination for fine dining. All items on our extensive menu are made fresh to order, and we take pride in the fact that local farmers and food artisans have been coming to our back door since long before "farm-to-table" was a trend.
Our lunch (Tues-Fri) is a popular choice for a quick business lunch or a leisurely gathering of old friends. Attire is casual and choices range from a soup & cold salad ($10.50) to soup, salad, and choice of hot entre with vegetable and starch ($12.00). Our dinner menu features an impressive selection of fine steaks, succulent seafood, and flavorful poultry dishes.

Services
Heritage House founders and owners David & Cheri Savage met in Dallas, Texas, where David was starting his long career in the restaurant business. It was there that they started their first restaurant together, called "Our House." In 1986, they brought their young family back to David's native Skowhegan, where they found David's grandfather's house sitting empty.
All appetizers and entres are made from fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. Entres include generous dinner salad with dressing choice, bread & butter, fresh vegetables, and choice of rice pilaf, mashed potatoes, or baked potato. In addition to our extensive regular menu, we feature creative & unique Chef's Specials nightly; call us at 207-474-5100 for the evening's specials.
You want the absolute best food and service for your private function, and we provide it for you. For more than 30 years, we have catered weddings, birthday parties, anniversary gatherings, formal sit-down dinners, family reunions, business luncheons - and virtually any other kind of function you can imagine.

Absolutely amazing place to enjoy high class food in a homely setting. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for "Best in Town". The staff was very accommodating and polite. The setting was dimmed and with candle light, with enough personal space to carry on conversation comfortably, not to mention the 5 star menu!

We used the heritage house as our wedding caterer. Cheri was a pleasure to work with from the initial tasting to the wedding day. We were able to taste many options from the menu. Many of the dishes were able to be altered to accommodate for food allergies.
The staff were professional and the main line at the wedding looked very presentable. Plenty of food to go around. Communication could improve before wedding. Thank you again!

We met a friend here for lunch. It states online that you need a reservation, but that is apparently left over from the pre-pandemic era, as they have a few dining rooms available and just using one of them when we arrived (though we were glad to be placed by ourselves in a second room.
Their menu is very basic in that they have you choose your entree from a list. No entrees, burgers, salads, etc., For lunch you choose your cup of soup, your salad dressing and your entree. They are all a straight $12. The dinner entrees are individually priced. They have the offerings on a white board just inside

For the price point I would expect a little more. The service was great and friendly. I had the Filet Mignon which was very good. That does deserve 5 stars. But was a bit disappointed that the vegetable was just carrots. I would have hoped for a nice vegetable medley especially with all of the local farmers in the area. Even a nice combo of different color carrots would have been nice. Another person in my party had the pasta with Brie cheese. It was ok, a little too "saucey" and good for the first few bites. After that it was too rich to be satisfying. We did have The dessert which was

Back in time. Wonderful experience. We had not been to a place like this for years…menu with so many great choices. We had steak medallions and fettuccine with chicken. Both were wonderful. Salad fresh, bread was good. Was disappointed when they added $3.00 extra to beef dish without letting us know. Small print on white board…. Expensive meal but really very good. Service was pretty good but could have been better. Skowhegan Maine has this great restaurant…give it a try .

Was recommended by the manager at the hotel we stayed in on our Aug 2019 trip to Acadia National Park.
This was probably the best meal I have had in a very long time. Food was beyond excellent. The appetizer we started out with was scallops over fig jam with goat cheese. It was cooked to perfection . For entree I had the Grilled Filet Mignon w/ Garlic Glaze or Blue Cheese. Again, cooked to perfection.
Next trip to Maine, this will definitely be on my go to place.

Our entrees, Chicken cordon bleu and baked stuffed Haddock was definitely made from scratch and was amazing delicious! The atmosphere is friendly. Our Waitress was attentive and prompt. The vegetables with our dinner were as great as the entrees. Everything looks as delicious as it tastes. We will try to return tHe next time we are in Skowhegan. The price is reasonable for such a high quality dinner.

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in recent memory. We made early reservations because we were attending a show at the Skowhegan opera house later that evening. We made it a point to let our waitress know when we were seated. We were actually the first table seated that evening. We waited an hour for bread to arrive to our table, although we were served our drinks fairly quickly and the house red was a decent glass of wine. When the bread arrived, it was warm and the butter softened. However, we then waited through two baskets of bread for the single appetizer our table ordered. Our

What a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant of this quality in Skowhegan. My wife and I dined there this evening and thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.
No need to update anything as the interior boasts of soft colors in multi dining rooms that exhibit a warm and very comfortable atmosphere.
Our waitress,"New Sam," was very pleasant and efficient. We appreciated that she was concerned that all was fine and it was.
Appetizers were stuffed jalapenos that were accompanied with a wonderful dipping sauce and stuffed mushrooms...Terrific! Entrees were Pan seared scallops and shrimp

Amazing service! Amanda was our waitress and never lets my water or other beverages run out. We had haddock that was cooked to perfection, my friend had the scallops and said they were perfectly delish. Amanda always offers to bring us more fresh hot bread. We go here regularly because they never let us down; even the owner is friendly and works with her staff making this place a 5 star restaurant.

Driving through town, we stopped for a dinner and could not believe our luck happening to find Heritage House - even though we came through later at night, the staff went absolutely out of their way to run out and get lobster for us. Our waitress was a darling, and so helpful and sweet. I was blown away by my Cajun snapper with crab, and the sweet, homey atmosphere made the evening warm and bright. Here's hoping we cross back through Maine sometime soon so we can stop back at Heritage House.

Specials tonight all sound fantastic. French onion soup as good as it gets, Caesar salad well prepared with fine Cajun style blue-fin tuna stir fry, great prep, different and excellent. Stuffed haddock is just as good. Desserts, salads, everything here wonderful, prices reasonable, service so friendly. No doubt that this is best gourmet restaurant and finest dining in Waterville and we are 12 miles away in Skowhegan! Give it a try, worth the trip.

My father dined at the Heritage House after he was paired up with the owner on the golf course. He recommended it highly. Last night, twenty years later, we had a wonderful night there. Our waitress Amanda was knowledgeable and attentive. She seemed proud to serve the food which was fresh and plentiful. The blackened salmon with their authentic fettuccini was fantastic. Everything looked like it was made to order. Well priced and worth the wait.

We went to dinner with a group of 8 last night, and the food was as good as, or better than, anything we might find in Boston or Portland. I had salmon with a caper/dill/wine reduction, that was perfection. This came with hand cut fried potatoes that were also excellent. Salad was crisp and fresh. Dessert was chocolate moose; light and super chocolatey with a dab of fresh whipped cream, and really good coffee!

I grew up around this place and never once did I come here during that time. My first visit was in April 2011. I brought my wife and my father here for dinner one night at my wife's prompting - she was tired of the rest of the restaurants in town that all offer similar food to each other.
Ok, wow, who would have thought that such a great restaurant exists in such a small town. In the past, when bringing my father out to dinner we would go to Waterville, as there is not much in terms of good dining in my hometown. My experience at Heritage House changed that, now there is no reason for me

Real surprise for Skowhegan, Maine. I had a late day business meeting in town and knew nothing about the restaurant.
Walking in, I knew it was a fancier restaurant than I had expected; located in an older house (built in 1897) along busy Madison Avenue/Route 201, the dining room had white linen table cloths and was closed off from the rest of the restaurant for our gathering.
We had a choice of three specials; I went with the salmon. It was nicely prepared, with handcut sweet potato chips and a very serviceable salad.
If passing through Skowhegan, or taking in a play at the historic Lakewood

A bit out of the way, this is a fine place for a nice meal in a relaxed setting, surrounded by locals. The food is well done and service is friendly. The restaurant is set up in an older house so has several rooms for the tables which means it never seems noisy or overly crowded. We have eaten there several times with some local folks and always been pleased with our meal, as well as the reasonable prices.
