Opportunity Music Project
If your child needs financial assistance or access to a high-quality instrument, we can help. Make it possible for students to gain access to consistent, quality musical instruction that inspires them professionally and personally. Every child at Opportunity Music Project receives private music lessons on violin, viola, cello, or the double bass.

Students learn to play in a group, honing their skills and working collaboratively towards a final performance. Students ages 4-8 participate in small group classes and start learning on their instrument of choice.
Services
No amount of resources can replace a supportive family environment. This is the reason for OMP's emphasis on parental involvement. Practicing with your child, attending lessons and concerts, motivating, and simply sharing the joy of music, can help your young musician succeed in music and countless other aspects of their lives.
To succeed, every musician needs three elements: passion, hard work, and opportunity. Due to difficult circumstances, countless families are unable to afford the high cost of private music lessons which are essential for any aspiring classical musician. This project locates dedicated families with a child interested in music and offers them the opportunity to take private music lessons.
Jessica Garand, founder and executive director at Opportunity Music Project is a passionate advocate for social innovation through music and is a recipient of the $10,000 McGraw-Hill Robert Sherman Award for Arts Education and Community Outreach. While a Masters student at the Juilliard School, she founded Opportunity Music Project.
Opportunity Music Project's Ambassador Program is a tutoring practice-buddy system designed to bolster our core curriculum. The program pairs OMP students with a professional or pre-professional musician tutor who supports and solidifies the instruction provided by OMP faculty.

Tutors help OMP students master difficult musical concepts, learn good practice habits, and note reading, along with a range of other learning goals that help OMP students excel in a core curriculum that includes their private lessons, music theory, composition, and orchestral training classes.
The Orchestra Program is an important feature of Opportunity Music Project's curriculum. The program creates a community atmosphere where students and their parents come together as a group, develop friendships, and celebrate music making together. The Orchestra Program is a unique chance for students to develop skills through group music making, which can be applied to all areas of life.
