The Growth Center for Counseling & Wellness was established in 2007 by Dr. Courtney Land and has grown since that time to provide quality pastoral counseling and mental health care to Kentuckiana and the surrounding counties. Services
The Growth Center was established by Dr. Courtney Land. His extensive experience of over 20 years as a pastoral counselor gave him a vision for a counseling center in this community that offered a religious friendly and spiritually sensitive environment for all persons to be welcomed to experience pastoral care.
Here at The Growth Center for Counseling and Wellness, our services fall primarily into one of two categories. Psychiatric services are provided by our medical staff and include evaluation for and management of psychiatric medications. Counseling services are provided by licensed mental health providers and the therapeutic process may be recommended for individuals, couples, or families.
My goals are to provide hope to you when you see only despair and to share my courage and strength as we work through your trials and tribulations. As we confront the inner demons of your past, the use of medications can lead to a higher quality of life and restore joy, happiness, laughter, and humor back into your life.
I see people from all age groups and all walks of life. The first question I ask a new client is "What brings you here today?" The answers to that question set the stage for exploring together where the client needs and wants to go with his or her life and what needs to happen to help him or her to get there.
I help clients increase their mind and body awareness in order to stabilize moods, regulate stress and anxiety, heal old wounds and increase relationship effectiveness. I work with adults, teens and children using dialogue, mindful breathing, art and play as avenues of healing exploration. As a person of faith, I am glad to incorporate a spiritual focus as desired by the client.

I was diagnosed in 2003 with a mental illness in St Louis after a horrible manic episode and I was in a car wreck and rushed to the hospital by ambulance and there I was treated an diagnosed with a serious mental illness by a psychiatric doctor...I saw that doctor for 5 years..I left St Louis and I moved to Indiana and that is where I found Dean O’Brien.. he has taken care of me for 13 years.. Dean has seen me at my best and at my worst... he listens to me and provides me with wonderful psychiatric care so I can work as a Phlembotomist and live a good and productive life...Dean is very wise to

Having worked with Charles Love for some time now, I have to say that it has helped a lot. I didn't know how I would feel about therapy, but it turned out to be something I should have done a long time ago. Charles has made me feel like I can move past some difficult things in my life even if they are hard to face. It is very easy to talk to him and the office has been great in communicating with me.

I don’t feel like I’m “got” to go to therapy I feel like I get to go to therapy. Dean has always personalized my experience here and never made me feel less than for seeking the help I need. The staff has always been friendly. Kim is amazing and Clarissa has always been helpful. I wasn’t able to pay on time one time and they helped me get things worked out to be able to relive stress. Definitely would recommend.

Getting my medication has been life changing for me. Truly, I wish I started sooner. The growth center may not be perfect, but they're nice and my doctor (Dean) is a cool guy. I haven't had that many issues with them, but none of have with Dean. If you're in the area, Its worth considering and checking them out.
