Dr. AJ Garis is a native Oregonian raised in the small town of Aurora. He was introduced to the miracles of chiropractic at the age of 12 following a go-karting accident. Dr. AJ earned his first Bachelor of Science in Geology, at Oregon State University. For a time he pursued a rewarding career in Geology before being called back to chiropractic.
Dr. AJ earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the University of Western States in Portland. Concurrently he earned his second Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. Throughout his studies, he maintained Dean's List and received additional training and certifications in; Webster Technique for peri and postnatal care, and Graston Technique to reduce scar tissue and mysofascial adhesions.

Love Dr. AJ! My 3 year old nonverbal son with an extensive medical history has responded so well to chiropractic care, and Dr. AJ always works with him in such a gentle, noninvasive manner, which draws him in! Myofascial release is an intervention administered to various patients to alleviate pain or restrictive tissue problems. The release treatment usually involves the application of gentle or moderate pressure on the connective tissues and leads to relaxation and eventual elongation of the fascia therein.

I recently moved to Bend and was in need of a new chiropractor. It has been a couple months since my last adjustment so my back and neck were feeling tight. AJ was so thorough and professional. He was able to actually show me where I was out of alignment and what we can do to improve my mobility. It’s the first time in over a decade that I’ve had hope of being pain free. I just wish I could have seen him years ago.

Such a calm and welcoming atmosphere! I found Dr. Lakanen to be very thorough in her assesment of the problems I was having and made me feel very comfortable with the care plan. She spent a good amount of time listening to details and responding with solutions and possible paths to getting me well again! Thanks to the entire office for a great first visit.. looking forward to my chiropractic care here!

My usual chiropractor was out of town and I was suffering from a painful neck issue and Dr. AJ was able to get me in late notice. I am thankful as he is hands down the best chiro I've ever been to and I will be switching over to Discover officially! He is incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly and really cares about his patients. I would 10/10 recommend him to anyone seeking chiropractic work.

Dr. AJ is phenomenal. I bring my 2 year old in to my adjustments and AJ is a PRO with him. My son gets scared by doctors and seeing someone adjust me can make him cry, but AJ is very kind and patient with him and makes my son feel comfortable before he adjusts me. I receive wonderful care here and am very grateful to have found this practice!

I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. AJ. I have been seeing Dr. AJ since I have been 20 weeks pregnant. I specifically looked for a Webster certified chiropractor during my pregnancy but AJ is knowledgeable beyond measure. He has kept me aligned, pain free and provided extremely helpful insight as I prepare for labor and take care of my expanding frame. Looking forward to continuing to work with him postpartum as well!
