Dr. Steven Downs is proud to be the new owner of Villa Park Optometry. Founded 45 years ago, Dr. Steve recently purchased the practice in 2019 and is excited to serve this community for many years to come. He graduated with from Western University College of Optometry in 2018 and is an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), California Optometric Association (COA), and Orange County Optometric Society (OCOS).

My husband came here first and had nothing but praise for Dr. Downs and his staff, so I made a call to see if they would perform snd eye exam on my 10 year old son who was experiencing frequent headaches and difficulty seeing the whiteboard at school in certain situations - and they could! They made the experience fun and interesting for him and he felt comfortable the whole time. Dr. Downs took his time, asked both me and my son loads of questions, and he took the time to make us feel comfortable. Dr. Downs is so nice! I was referred to Dr.Downs recently & I am SO grateful I did. I have a very complex corneal issue. I needed to start wearing scleral lenses last September that I had made at UCLA Stein Eye. Unfortunately due to illegal mandates, UCLA has refused to continue my care this past year. Between the medical trauma I've experienced with other drs & the issues with my eyes, I didn't have much hope. That all changed completely after just my 1st visit. I don't usually do Yelp's but this one 100000% deserves it!!!! Dr. Downs and the staff there are so amazing. They all took the time to answer any questions/concerns I had and never once made me feel like I was being rushed out of the door. You could tell they genuinely cared - something you never EVER get with big corp companies. If anyone's considering a new dentist, consider less because this is where you need to go.

Dr. Downs gave a very thorough review of my eyes, made some slight changes to my contact prescription. He was very easy to speak with, down to earth and provided me with a fantastic eye exam. Office personnel were very polite and fun to engage in conversation with. I am very pleased overall and will see him again in 1-year for my check up...thank you VP Optometry

I used to go to Villa Park Optometry for years but had some frustrating experiences, so stopped going. After hearing about the "change of guard" I wanted to give Dr. Downs a try. I'm so glad I did! He's great! I have unique challenges when it comes to contacts, and he did a great job of finding something for me that worked immediately. We're working now on getting me a pair of prescription sunglasses and I can't wait to try them!
Also, the front-desk staff is wonderful. I'm afraid I forgot her name, but there's one professional there that is an insurance

Very happy with my eye exam visit with Dr. Downs today. The staff was friendly and professional. This is a small office but is very clean, nice, and comfortable. Dr. Downs is really personable and friendly. He really took the time to ask questions and explain my eye conditions. He provided me with new information I never heard of from previous eye exams from other offices. He uses updated technology where I was told I don't need to get my eyes dilated because of the technology he uses as an alternative to examine my eye. Wow, what can I say? The BEST EXAM EVER! I have Type 1 diabetes and also have been wearing glasses for farsightedness and a lazy left eye since I was in 5th grade so I have been to many optometrists and ophthalmologists in my 49 years. Dr. Downs by far gave me the best eye exam I have ever had. It didn't take long like many others have, I didn't have to have my eyes dilated, he has this new machine that takes pictures of the entire eye that eliminates the need of having your eyes dilated. I had a great experience with Dr. Downs and the office staff at VP Optometry. They were able to work around my schedule for appointments, sent me text reminders, accepted my insurance and FSA benefits card without issue, and provided my contacts at competitive pricing. The office is well organized and very clean, with ample, easy access parking.
