The Newport Mesa Ice Kings are the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League ice hockey team for southern Orange County high school students. Our geographic area includes Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and San Juan Capistrano. Currently we field two teams. From August to March, our High School team plays in the ADHSHL - tryouts are typically held in early June and open to incoming 9th through 12th graders.
From April through June, our Spring Select team plays in The Rinks Spring League - tryouts are in March and open to current 8th through 11th graders. Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa, Newport Harbor, Estancia, Laguna Beach, Sage Hill, St. Margaret's Episcopal, Capistrano Valley Christian, and Homeschool, Charter and Private School students living in above districts.

Ice Kings Hockey - our organization is 100% staffed by parent volunteers with a passion for ice hockey. Many of us played the sport growing up at various skill levels, and want to pass on our love for the sport on to youth in our local communities.
To that end, we set up Ice Kings Hockey, Inc. a California Non-Profit Corporation to promote the life skills that playing hockey offers: sportsmanship, teamwork, focus, and community service for the southern Orange County area.

As a parent, you understand it is important for your child to get the most out of participating in youth sports. GUIDANCE - Youth hockey is unique because a new player must start from the very basics of essentially learning to walk again. Your local youth hockey program has instructors that are able to teach the sometimes challenging skills of ice hockey in a fun, engaging manner.
The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Hockey program offers first-time youth hockey players the chance to get on the rink in full hockey equipment for free. They will receive instruction on the basics of hockey as well as learn how to skate properly and about player safety. Participants will be provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, stick and jersey to use for the four week session.
If you're interested having your son or daughter play high school hockey with us, and he or she meets lives in the Newport-Mesa Unified, Laguna Beach Unified, Laguna Hills High School, or Mission Viejo High School districts, we'd love to hear from you. Anaheim High School Hockey League (ADHSHL) program - tryouts are typically held in early June.
