We never encourage anyone to seek a divorce but if you find yourself in that unfortunate situation we can assist in determining what route is best for you. Many divorce cases involve the division of assets and debts. Understanding the complexities of the characterization of property is critical in ensuring a fair and accurate allocation of the estate.
By the time someone is contemplating a divorce, or has already started the process, they have become familiar with the term community property. California is one of the nine states that uses community law principles when dividing the marital estate. For that reason, it is critical that you seek the assistance of an attorney that possesses a nuanced understanding of community property principles and its many intricacies.
The issues of child custody and visitation is considered by many attorneys to be the most difficult issue during the case. In custody cases there are no winners and losers. All anyone can hope for is that after the parents separate they can work together reasonably to help the child[ren] transition to the new dynamics of their family.
One of the leading concerns for someone facing the break-up of either their marriage or a relationship in which the parties share children, is how will they continue to either support themselves and/or their child(ren). This concern applies equally across the board whether you are the potential recipient of support or whether you are the potential payor of support.
