Services
Learning and development are emphasized at Smart Start Academy. We keep little minds, hands and bodies busy in many ways. Our goal is to help them to feel independent, learn how to be courteous to adults and other children, and to be fascinated by the world around them.
When a child has a strong self-esteem and a lively curiosity as a result of a good home life and day care experience, then he/she will be eager and able to take on the challenges of school. We have many separate classes that allow children to feel comfortable in a group setting with children their own age and/or development level.

The Smart Start infant room is a clean room (no outside shoes allow into the room)that offers a quiet and peaceful place for your new baby to explore. This special room is able to accommodate 10 infants. The daily schedule for this room is determined on an individual basis.
Our staff will work with the parents to establish a schedule to include: eating, rocking, sleeping, playing, soft music, cleanliness routines and adult/ infant interaction are included in a day's time.

We have two Toddler rooms for your special little ones. For simplicity they are called Toddler Left and Toddler Right based upon their location within the center. At Smart Start you can expect that your child will receive a structured regular schedule. Even for the Toddlers we work on the early stages of learning, which will prepare them for later success in our Pre-School Programs.
Smart Start Academy has partnered with Miami Valley Child Development Centers Inc. to provide a Head Start Program to its families. The program is a federally funded community-based program for income eligible families with preschool aged children. Head Start enhances the development of young children, and promotes healthy family functioning.
Preschool at Smart Start is much more than babysitting. We focus on Kindergarten readiness and for classes and small groups based on each individual child's development. We conduct regular one on one assessments with your child to ensure their progress. These assessments are how we track your child's success and are a valuable resource to use with our parent teacher conferences.

I took my 3 year old here. It was horrible. Almost everyday I would pick my son up there where teachers or assistants were yelling at the children. I seen one of the assistants grab a child by there arm and drag him through the hallway. Literally dragging this kid. He wasn't even on his feet. These are preschool students they are doing this to. My son came home one day and told me a teacher hit him. When I asked her about it she said she just pushed him. He would come home with horror stories and bruises. The food they feed the kids is terrible!! If you love your children do not take them here

We absolutely love Smart Start! The entire staff is very friendly and caring towards my son and the other kids. The director, Barbara, has gotten to know our family and has bent over backward to accommodate our changing schedule. I was very nervous to leave my baby when I started back at work and the transition was seamless with Smart Start. I suggest taking a tour for yourself - you will get to witness a great team hard at work to create a fun environment for kids!
