Maybe you tend to lose yourself in relationships, or are in a relationship and feel ambivalent about it. Perhaps there is a particularly difficult person in your life and your interactions with them are causing you a lot of pain. Are highly successful in many areas of life, yet feel anxious, overwhelmed, and self-critical (imposter syndrome).
I know how hard it can be to reach out for help when you may be used to handling things on your own. I invite you to call me at (510) 594-4099 or email to set up a time to talk and see if we might be a good fit to work together. Want to see if we might be a good fit to work together? I typically respond within one business day.

Services
I've been a psychotherapist for 20 years and in private practice since 2004. I help people who feel held back by self-doubt, perfectionism, confusion or anxiety to feel a greater sense of ease in their relationship to themselves, others, and to the challenges life naturally brings us. I also teach, supervise, and consult to new therapists.
I have 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist helping people who want to find a way through their current pain so they can live more satisfying and enriching lives. My style of working is depth-oriented and relational, which means that I want to help you address the underlying cause of your current struggles.

I was in a group for therapists new to private practice that was led by Deb. The first part of our meetings was about how to market our practice. Deb was extremely astute at navigating all the marketing challenges that we encountered. The second part of the meetings was clinical supervision. Deb was a great leader and used warmth, relatedness, humor, and her smarts to help us navigate our difficult cases.

I have been lucky enough to have been a part of Deb's transition consultation group through The Psychotherapy Institute. Deb's calm and supportive approach to our group allowed us to explore and express ourselves in a safe and non-judgmental environment. She also held a good balance of concrete information on launching our careers, as well as holding space for professional and clinical concerns. I highly recommend her consultation groups to any clinicians, especially one's who are early in their careers.

I've known Deb Lyman for many years and think of her as a "therapist's therapist." She is friendly and upbeat, with a great sense of humor, and provides a comforting, open presence. At the same time, she is as steadfast as solid ground in a storm, able to help people navigate the roughest seas and murkiest depths, and emerge with new vision and hope. Deb does great work with couples, and brings extraordinary expertise and sensitivity to therapy with couples in the LGBTQQI community. And, if you tend towards perfectionism or self-doubt, despite being pretty successful, Deb would be a great fit.
