We are a Des Moines, Iowa family-owned business with over 25 years experience specializing in residential single and multi-family rental properties. We are staffed with a full service property team that can quickly respond to your rental property and property management needs.

We cover all of the greater Des Moines, area including Urbandale, Des Moines, West Des Moines or Ankeny and also work with Section 8 qualified renters.

While it's important for us to keep your property occupied, experience shows that it is more important to be selective in a process of choosing a tenant. In the long run you will benefit because your tenant will normally stay longer and take better care of the property. Our Screening process begins with a personal interview and the gathering of tenant background information.

With our strong knowledge of fair housing laws, our main goal is to protect and maximize the potential of your investment, while providing safe, quality rental/lease properties to properly qualified tenants allowing us to maintain low vacancy rates with higher value rental fees.We are proud to say that we would manage your property as we would one of our own.
Our first step in renting a property is advertising its availability. We provide yard signs that attract interest from drive-by traffic. We receive many referrals and unsolicited inquiries because of our long-standing presence in the community. Screening of each prospective tenant is of primary importance.
Advertising of the vacant property, criminal checks, previous rental history checks, and the applicant's employment status. On the owner's behalf we will negotiate rental agreements, collect rental fees and security deposits, issue keys to the tenants and make sure the keys are returned once the tenant leaves.
Our competitive management fee structure is based on a percentage of the monthly gross rent, making the cost of real estate investments more affordable than you think. 10% of the monthly gross rent receipt and of the first month's scheduled rent. The of the first month's rent will only be collected once per tenant and no more than once per year per property.

No responsibilty for the condition of their properties. They look when you move in and when you move out. Anything inbetween, good luck. We have screen shots of our previous review outlining the damage to our property by your tree and removing that review or this one doesnt remove your knowledge of remaining danger from possible future damage by part of your tree that remains.

Critical: Professionalism
I used this company to manage my property and they let the tenants DESTROY my property. I have had to do thousands of dollars in work. I requested inspections multiple times and they refused to do them. They trashed my house and my yard. This company only cares about getting money.

I really appreciate everything Kent and DM House Rentals has done for me. They have always been there to take my calls and have communicated with me in multiple forms to my convenience. I'm renting an old house, and have old house issues, but generally speaking, have had good experiences. Their maintenance team is outsourced, which can make the communication shotty at times, but when I have communicated with Amanda in the office, either she or Kent himself follows up, and makes sure that the items are taken care of. I have lived here for almost a year, really love it here at the property I am renting

If I could give zero stars I would. My drive way has been getting worked on dice December and every time I call they say when the weather breaks they’ll fix it. It’s April and it still has not been fixed. My kitchen floor has been buckling in since November and they still have yet to fix that either. My basement gets water in it every time it rains I’ve also told them that this has gone on since last April I can go outside my home and see directly into my basement and they still will not fix anything but if ur late on rent 3days they’ll be a note in your door. I applied for a house a couple of days ago and submitted my application for a particular house. I received a call from DM Housing telling me that I was approved for that house and was told to bring the deposit ASAP. I told them that I could not leave work until 4. I was then told others were looking at this property and first one with the deposit got it. I had waited for two days to get approved was never told their was a waiting list. I received a call about an hour after I was told I was approved and was told that this property was no longer available. What kind of business is this. You collected

This is my first month renting from DM rentals but I must say I've had absolutely no issues they always get in touch with me when I need them to I thought my furnace was going out or something was going in with my heat this evening and kent came out at 830 on new years eve and made sure to look at it and fix it for me they are not a bad company at all & I do believe I will have a great experience with them and hopefully make this house into a home for my children for years to come!! I was helping a refugee family get their washer & dryer hooked up. The house had recently been remodeled and the dryer duct was not sticking out of the wall far enough to connect the dryer duct from the machine. The company sent a maintence tech to the house within 30 minutes to fix it so I could finish the dryer install. They offered to hook everything up (the washer & dryer aren’t rentals so not the company’s responsibility) but I was able to do it once they replaced the end of the dryer duct in the wall. Much different (better) experience than I’ve had with other rental companies working

Very money hungry. $20 everyday you are late on rent, and after about 4 days late they serve you with a 3 day notice and charge you extra for doing so. The women in the office excluding Jody are very unpleasant. I was once accused of paying $100 less for rent, but thankfully after begging them to review the camera it was clear I did pay my full amount and the office lady "miscounted." I was charged $40 a few weeks after I moved in for heating filters. They take advantage of lower income people. All of there units are section 8 and my house had a roach problem. I am writing to inform your company that after the lack of communication and the way I was ignored and left waiting at a rental to view, I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB, Complaint ID # 32079523. Since no services changed hands they only file the complaint away and monitor your company to see if similar complaints are filed. I am not sure how you typically run your business, but my brief encounter with DM House Rentals was less than stellar. I would suggest that working on customer service and internal communication be a focus point for the business.
Thankfully there are other much
