Both psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners are involved in the assessment and diagnosis of mental health and substance abuse disorders, and provide treatment through the prescription of medications and/or psychotherapy. These two types of professionals differ primarily in the paths they take to become licensed and certified in their respective fields.
Psychiatrists are medical physicians who specialize in psychiatry after completing medical school and specialty residency training that ranges from four to six years. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners begin as registered nurses, and then specialize in mental health care by attending either a two or four-year nurse practitioner program.

I am not the one to complain, but when it comes to a place that work with mental health illness this is not the place to go. They are accusatory and incredibly rude. I feel bad for the psychiatrist there because i really do not know how they end up with patients. You wonder why all the best people they had there are leaving.

Highly recommend Dr. Anna Mackender and the team at Summit Clinical. I have always had great experiences with Dr. Mackender and her office staff. The office is clean and comfortable, but above all, Dr. Mackender is the best. She is a warm and attentive doctor who puts her patients first and very clearly cares about them. I'm forever grateful to have found her.

Dr Mackender is great. very caring and knowledgeable. I have been paying out of pocket for monthly visits about $150/month. About 6 mos ago,she told me that they would be under Cigna insurance they were waiting to find out when. Well Yay! By Jan 1st 2019,I finally found out,no,they would not be under Cigna after all.The receptionist just was so flippant,I just about cried. The receptionist knew, but the Dr did not. The front desk staff are very short w/me,and down right rude on the phone. I had to cancel one day when i was sick. The receptionist said Dr wants to know "why" I gave her all the details

I'm giving Summit 5 stars because the physicans are fantastic and honestly, that's why we go there. The doctors and NP's genuinely care about you and make a difficult situation better...
However, that being said, the front office staff has much to be desired. My example involves the receptionist, Kristina. She is extremely rude over the phone, kept using the incorrect patients name, didn't listen to my desired appointment time, and kept cutting me off mid conversation as well as continued to talk over me and made it feel next to impossible to send a message to the physician (an established patient

Participating in the women's group, coupled with individual counseling has changed my life. Joyce Babb, the counselor I see and who also facilitates group, is phenomenal. I have seen other therapists in the past and have gotten some help from each of them, but Joyce has helped me bring it all together and realize what a special person I am, and group makes me feel not only capable of helping myself but also of helping others. Before seeing Joyce and attending group, I had given up on myself and life. Now I truly embrace life and see hardships for what they are -- a normal part of life

Up dating my review from prior discouraging review I'm pleased to see more people assisting offices staff as it must be most stressful and it's unfair for patients to suffer from delays and problems as a result . So far coming along much better and doctors then are much more resitsefik bc if time and more organized office .

The ladies at the front desk arevery rude, it just seems like every time I ask a question they jump down my throat. Summit has a lot of clients so expect your physiatrists to be late. I never go in there and have appointment on time, it's usually 10 to 20 mins late. Once I was talking to one of the clients and she was waiting or an hour for her appointment. On the other hand all the physiatrist are nice, I guess that's a plus😒

I have seen Dr. Anna Mackender for several months now, and she has already helped me so much. I have generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety, and Dr. Mackender has evaluated me thoroughly and she has worked with me on trying different medications until I found the one that worked best for me. She is very knowledgeable and treats her patients with respect. I have also seen therapist Lisa Hopkins, who has helped me tremendously in such a short period of time. My friends have commented that they see a big difference in me. As far as front desk staff goes, I agree with a past reviewer here

The doctors are great, but the staff are the worst. Not friendly at all. Extremely rude and no respect for the fact that the patients there can be going through some tough times and the last thing they need is a bad attitude from a front desk person.
Also remember all places are for profit not for the people. I understand you have to make money, but being able to set up a payment plan shouldn't be the worst hassle they've ever had to deal with. Not everyone is in perfect positions financially, be respectful of that.

I had been working with Dr. Mackander for 4 months. Even after my husband's job changed and we no longer had insurance, I continued to make the 35 minute commute to see her AND pay cash because I didn't want to start all over with a new Doctor. In the past, when I've notified the front desk employee (it's always the same lady) that I was here for my appointment, she, in an annoyed tone, would motion for me to just sit down after signing in. Today, I happened to be running late because of traffic. I called and left a message at 8:15 a.m. that I may be late to my 8:30 appointment and to please let
