We like coming here! My husband brought me for my birthday recently and we got the crab boil for 2. The portion was pretty generous, and oh boy was it amazing! I love how they elevated the flavors a bit and added scallops to the sauce. We also had the beer tasting paired with oysters which was delightful. I can't wait for another opportunity to go back! Their food is amazing, and the waitress really did a great job explaining the menu and recommendations.

First timers for my family and I. We came here for my sisters wedding dinner and we were pretty surprised of how good the food was. The servers were awesome and accommodating to our requests and thankful that in addition to the generous tip we left, we also left them small candy Christmas goody bags. Definitely worth the price for the amount they give.

Service is very good. Food quality is mediocre.
Soup of day, potato is served like warm, sent back and still luke warm with a microwave hot spot! It is thick and congealed. This happened my last two visits with the clam chowder as well. Ordered the Cajun chicken Caesar, aghast that this is a $16.99 salad for a small!! The Cajun spice is mostly cayenne just hot, no nice blend of flavors. Walked out the door today with a $30 bill for a small salad and cup of soup. Probably won't give this place another try.

Spending Thanksgiving in Olympia and not having anywhere planned for dinner we popped into Budd Bay. They had opened up their bar area to accommodate more diners for TK so we were shown to a table straight away. They had a traditional TK menu and we both went for the Traditional with all the trimmings which was really enjoyable. Even managed to save room for desert. Thank you to all the friendly staff for making a TK to remember.

Really flavorful salmon here- we got the cedar plank salmon and the tri-citrus honeybutter salmon. Our server Lindsey was super quick, kind and knew the menu inside out. Nice and cozy seating, we got a table easily on a Tuesday evening and really loved our meals!

Two years ago I would have given this restaurant 5 stars. The staff was friendly. The halibut and steak were extremely over cooked. My fish was virtually inedible and the vegetables were so al dente I couldn't eat those either. Maybe new/inexperienced kitchen staff? However, the goat cheese appetizer was delicious.

We have been coming here for over 20 years. Today was very disappointing. The rolls were stale, the chowder tasted like paste, the fish was over cooked, we were not offered water, our coffee and soft drinks were not refilled. I can't imagine returning.

Great clam chowder and mussels. Shrimp for lunch was pretty darn good too. Nice views of bay and a hop away from the hands on children’s museum if you are there.

The steak deserves a zero. I ordered it rare and definitely got it blue. They just browned the outside and the center was cold and gross. Then the cook sent the waitress back saying I should have ordered it blue. Someone needs to learn the differences between steaks. So, do not waste your money on the steak, you can get a yummy tenderloin at Safeway for 12 bucks.
However, the clam chowder is the best clam chowder I have had in my life. We stop there now specifically for the chowder, it comes with a little bun and oyster crackers too. That right there is a whole meal in itself! But, they

Really love the outdoor dining area! The lights and music really can set the mood at the night!! The server was really nice in getting us water and taking in orders!!
However the food is somewhat if quantity of quality, dont get me wrong... This is a really good lobster mac and cheese, but wow, Cheesecake factory got some competition! Could save on smaller portions, both price and quantity and still be a great meal! $25 could easily turn to $17 or lower just by reducing the portion size... The clam chowder however is pretty good, lots of clams in it and is very chunky for it! Theres already lots

Oh, my! Thoroughly enjoyed the Butternut Squash Ravioli. The Gorgonzola cream and pecan pieces complimented the dish well. My sister enjoyed her grilled Budd Bay Signature SaImon, soy glazed with Wasabi cream. That's what I'll select next time I'm in Olympia! We were seated by a window. So, watching the sunset & boats come in added to the relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for a delightful experience!

Nice little place by the water. Great views with tables outside and inside. Food is good with some decent menu items for non-seafoodies. Full bar serving a nice selection of cocktails. Brunch times are different than listed on their website so call ahead if you're wanting a later brunch to be sure they're still serving.

Wonderful deck seating with views of Capitol Building and sound. Service was wonderful and very friendly. As a solo diner they made my evening memorable.

The food was very, very good. If I sound surprised I was. I have found the PNW cuisine to be lacking in flavor. However, the prawns were delicious. Budd Bay Cafe also has a good list of local brews and wines. I sampled a Griffin Pinot Gris and a Jones Sauvignon Blanc. I ended up with the Pinot Gris which paired well with my salad and prawns.

The only thing I would change about my meal was dessert. I chose the Chocolate Flourless Torte which

I came here on a Tuesday for dinner. I ended up getting the blackened salmon. It was so over cooked it was burned not blackened. I also got the crab and artichoke dip. It was difficult to taste the crab in the dip.

Love the location on the Olympia Waterfront. Our first time here. Walked in on a Sunday during brunch and was seated right away with a window table. We ordered the clam chowder, Dungeness crab salad, Dungeness Crab Cakes w/veggies and rice pilaf, and Fettucine Alfredo. Everything was delicious and the right amount of portions for the both of us. Our server was great and checked on us frequently. Will definitely come back again.

What a darling place! We fell in love with Olympia! This restaurant is right along the bay and has views of the marina. It has outside seating and gorgeous views. Our wait staff was funny and friendly. I got the smoked salmon and goat cheese pate which was delicious, my friend got the smoked salmon and arugula, we both enjoyed a delicious cocktail. I highly recommend this place. The vibe is on point!!!

Fathers Day Brunch...sat down quickly, order taken quickly...one hour and twenty minutes later...OUT, no food.

Left.

Large group next to us (half) left before food arrived.
Nice waitress, but Bud Bay was not prepared...clearly.

Lots of empty tables, but visibly UNDER staffed.

I was proven really wrong about this place and forced to keep my biases adn assumptions in check.

I am going to come right out and say it- I was not excited about this place beforehand. The building has a sort of dated, 90's, Bubba Gump Shrimp feel. The umbrellas are Pepsi branded. The heavy wood and oversized booths give off the feeling of a place that keeps pads of room temp butter wrapped in gold foil on the table at all times. We arrived here because the fiance wanted seafood, I was VERY HUNGRY, and the price point was more digestible than some of the other waterfront spots.

Stopped by here on our way to Olympic National Park. Our first time in Washington.

We had the cod and chips. The crust was thin and crunchy. Tried the Seattle cider. Our server was good.

It's nice to sit by the water outside in the patio when it's sunny.

There's 2 hour free parking near by.

I ordered rare steak with over easy eggs. I probably should have the steak cooked more because it was a bit tough to chew. And the eggs were cooked nicely.

Staff were friendly and everyone wore masks.

This is my first visit to Budd Bay Cafe in Olympia, WA. I am staying in a hotel that is basically just across the parking lot from my hotel. Lucky me!!

Budd Bay Cafe seems to concentrate on seafood, but there is an offering of pasta, steaks, and burgers as well.

I chose to order the Penn Cove Mussels Marinara and the Grilled Salmon with wild rice pilaf and I substituted asparagus for the usual green beans.

The mussels were awesome. I love mussels marinara and it's so difficult to find them! Normally mussels are prepared in a white wine sauce. The serving was quite large and very tasty.

It was a bit cold and windy, but we enjoyed our lunch outside at Budd Bay with our dog Roscoe. On a day trip to Olympia because the weather report said partly cloudy and dry, we chose to eat at Budd Bay, directly on the water, after walking around the farmer's market. Once the rain came, the bill was paid, and we headed back to our home in Seattle.

Budd Bay was nice while it lasted. The nice guy at the front warned me about the inoperative heaters several times, but we're hearty, from Wisconsin. He was right, but I'm a poor listener. Food was good, and we both enjoyed the clam

We finally tried this place out! I had been wanting to for awhile now. It's a nice quiet dinner spot with a beautiful view of the water. The customer service was great! Highlight of the evening was the Butternut Squash Ravioli every bite was perfect! The taste, texture and sauce was so delicious! I will be back to order that again for sure. You have to try it!
