New Paradigm is a psychological practice that focuses in forensic psychology with a current specialization in dealing with populations that have committed sexual offenses or have sexual problems. We offer full psychosexual assessments with the most up to date, scientifically validated instruments and techniques used within the field.

Members of New Paradigm have been formally trained in generally accepted and widely used tools for assessing sexual and violent recidivism. The majority of these trainings were provided by the actual developers of the tests in question. New Paradigm also conducts research and provides advocacy in this area.
Services
New Paradigm staff have years of experience in providing to courts expert testimony on cases they have evaluated. They have been expert witnesses in numerous county supreme courts across the State of New York. The Licensed Psychologists at New Paradigm offer a wide variety of forensic and clinical evaluations, with a specialization in the assessment of sexual offenders.
Public Transportation We are located on Central Avenue between Albany and Scenectady; conveniently situated at the West Mall bus stop. New paradigm offers a multi-track outpatient treatment program that customizes both the type and amount of treatment to a client's individualized needs.

The program adheres to the Treatment Practices and Guidelines set forth by the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and uses interventions that have been scientifically proven to reduce sexual recidivism (for example, the Risk-Need-Responsivity principles).The program is responsive to the differing Stages of Change of the clients to help build and maintain motivation for progress.
New Paradigm is one of only a few programs across New York State that uses the Penile Plethysmograph Test (PPG), or phallometry, in order to directly assess a person's erectile changes to a wide range of deviant sexual stimuli. The most longstanding, widely employed, and empirically-supported method of assessing deviant sexual arousal, interests, and preferences.
Katrina H. Colistra earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Saint Michael's College in 1998 and went on to earn her Master's Degree in Criminal Justice in 2000 from Northeastern University. She then began her doctoral studies within the field of psychology. While pursuing a doctorate in psychology, she provided treatment and evaluation in multiple clinical and forensic settings.
