Many who suffer from depression are disappointed that anti-depressants, supplements, and vitamins, as well as reputable types of talk therapy fail to bring relief from depression. Scientists and physicians have been persistent in their search for an alternative treatment for depression. TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a revolutionary treatment that offers relief to a large proportion of patients.
This is one of the most advanced models and is commonly used in TMS research at Duke, Columbia, and Harvard. We are dedicated to treating each individual with respect and with the committed concern they deserve. We will attentively answer all of your questions regarding TMS therapy, explain all the benefits and the number of treatments required so that you can make your decision knowing you are fully informed.

Services
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is FDA approved [since 2008] for adults who suffer from major depressive disorder and who have failed to find relief from anti-depressants. It is an office procedure where magnetic pulses target the prefrontal cortex of the brain. Most patients require 20 to 30 treatments to emerge from depression, over 4 to 6 weeks.
Though TMS is only FDA approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder, we have also obtained IRB approval to treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Parkinson's Disease. Dr McMullen will meet with you and decide if TMS or Deep TMS may be right for you. Then you will be referred to one of our TMS specialists that are trained in conducting TMS therapy.
Although TMS is offered at several locations within New York City, the vast knowledge and experience of Dr. Robert McMullen and his staff at TMS BrainCare is unparalleled. Our belief in TMS therapy can be seen in our dedication and attentiveness to each patient. By offering two forms of TMS, we are able to provide each patient with the treatment they need.
What is Vitamin D? Vitamin D is a steroid hormone. In this youtube video I discuss how Vitamin D plays a role in our mental health, general health (even cancer prevention) and the benefits. In this youtube video, I discuss how to tackle depression and what treatments are needed for your first time treating depression.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive method of treating depression that uses repetitively pulsed magnetic fields to generate an electrical current in a targeted region of the brain. The magnet energy extends only 2 to 3 cm into the brain in an area of about the size of 50 cent piece.

$1,500 for an initial consultation, $400 for a 30 minute follow up visit?! This kind of unbridled greed is precisely what’s wrong with America. And for what, may I ask? Is he going to attempt a groundbreaking
treatment? Nope. He will most likely be prescribing one of the commonly available psychiatric drugs, probably an SSRI, the same that can be prescribed by ANY psychiatrist or even a primary care doctor. Please have some respect for your wallet, or, at the very least, for the rest of society that cannot even contemplate such fees, and go elsewhere.

Dr. McMullen is the psychiatrist to go to if you want someone who keeps up with the latest information coming out about anything that affects the brain and could help with your specific kind of depression. I went to many psychiatrist and other doctors who said, basically, "let's start out with this anti-depressant that helps most people and see how it works. There are a lot of alternatives..." If you want someone who says "this should work for the kind of depression you have..." and will offer advice about whether you might also benefit from supplements of Omega 3s, Vitamin D, folic acid....using
