Ashby Resort & Campground
Ashby Resort is located in Grant County, Minnesota on beautiful Pelican Lake. The lake is approx. 4,000 acres. We are just off highway 94 midway between Alexandria and Fergus Falls. Ashby Resort is a family owned fishing resort. Owner, Dean Beneke, is here to help you enjoy a timeless Minnesota fishing tradition.

Approximately 80% of our customer's return to the resort each year and many have done it for several generations. The Resort is nestled on 10 acres of land on the north side of the lake and has something for everyone. The ultimate location for your family's reunion. We have five Cabins, seven Motel rooms both with and without Kitchens and a newly remodeled 2 bedroom lakeside villa.
Services
To make your stay more fun, we have paddle boards, a paddle boat, kayaks, canoes available for use by our guests, NO charge! The fish cleaning house is a great place to gather and hear about where the fish are biting. We have a sandy beach with a playground, horeshoes, dock fishing, dockside gas and a private boat launch.
A great way to spend a hot sunny day is on our sandy beach. The beach is shallow and has a slide in the water. For those that like to hang out in deeper water there is a floating raft. Pelican Lake is a 4,000 acre lake but is also a shallow lake and warms up quite early making it a great place to swim all summer.

The first year was 5 stars, the second year was 3 stars. Went to the resort across the lake the third year due to the new owner of Ashby Resort not saving our space that our family had had for 20+ years. Facility is good, owner not so much. My family is the Runia Family.

Cabin was dirty and worn down. Rips in carpet, torn laminate floor, dirty carpets, and when we pulled out the sleeper couch for bed we were disgusted to find candy wrappers, food crumbs, and toys in the bed. We told the owner, who did nothing to make it better, no apology and didn’t’ even come clean it up. Essentially no attempt to make it right at all, so one of us had no where to sleep. Owner told us he would give the feedback to his staff and left it at that. We decided to leave early and asked for a refund for one night. The owner denied. Cross this place off your list.

This small and peaceful resort was the perfect weekend getaway to relax and take in Mother nature's beauty. There are bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes to use at no charge. Dean is very friendly and easy to work with. There is a paved bike path right across the highway which we really enjoyed.
The town of Ashby is 5 minutes away with a fully stocked grocery store. Although there are close to 30 seasonal campers at the resort, the grounds were clean, quiet, and you feel like you have the place to yourself.
Upon leaving we booked for next summer and can't wait to come back.

An awesome Resort/Campground to stay at whether it would be by yourself or with a big group (family reunions). Pelican Lake offers beautiful sunsets from the docks and you also have the opportunity to catch a trophy fish in every species in the lake. There are many reasons why I've been coming back up here for 30 years, I highly recommend Ashby Resort/Campground!

Wife called to reserve a camper site for a weekend for a friends birthday. Ended up with what I assume is a "tent" site, considering there was no 30 or 50 amp camper hookup. When we checked in Friday evening, there was no mention of power being low amperage...even after chatting about "how warm and sweaty" it was outside. We tripped our breaker, and had to go ask where the reset was. Owner told us where it was, and then mentioned "oh yeah...you wont be able to run a ac unit off that site, you'll blow the breaker every time!". Not sure if it was lack of communication when booking the site or if

In his reply he said the restrooms and showers were not open because of Covid. This was not true. Our group had looked up on the MN Covid site and it said that campgrounds could be completely opened . As far as calling to let campers know that facilities were not available. This is not true either. The popup camper that came the night before we left had no idea there would not be showers or toilets to use. Thankfully they were with a larger group that let them shower in their camper.

Wonderful and quaint resort, but with all small places come a lack of amenities. Such as, the store being smaller with less items and no bar or place to buy liquor. However, Ashby is less than two miles away so still very convenient.

They booked our camper into a tenting spot, double booked our pontoon rental (which is overpriced for what you get) but tried telling us we scheduled a day earlier, and there were people next to us setting off fireworks at 11:30 at night. Not impressed with this place at all!

We have been coming to Ashby Resort for several years and loved previous owners. New owner did not keep bathroom/shower clean, no paper towels or hand soap for two days, garbage overflowing. No more ice cream in the office and $10.00 a night for dogs. Sadly will not be returning.

The couple who has been running this place for the last 19 years are great! I'm doing a bike tour so I was looking for tent only camping. They have a biker (cyclist) rate which is always nice. They also keep a log book of all the tourists who come through and offered to help us get a hot meal from town if we wanted it. I love when places are so considerate to cyclist. The beach and dock area was really nice for a post ride swim too.

We come every year for extended family duck hunting weekend and love it. Our dog is welcome, we can relax and the kids can run around, clean cabin. Each family in the extended family got a cabin close to each other and we could relax outside into the night. Good fall fun :)
