Very seldom when you are looking at getting close to retirement do you start a whole new venture, but Shari and Dr. Kelby Trusty did just that. Kelby, with an under graduate degree in Microbiology began taking classes at Grayson County College and making wine as a hobby. Two years of wine making turned Kelby's hobby into a passion.
Shari Trusty, raised on a farm in Oklahoma, had always enjoyed harvesting and planting anything with a green leaf, so she started looking into the art of growing grapevines. When a property that had been in the Daniels family for many years on FM 2931 outside Aubrey, became available, Kelby and Shari were able to purchase the property.

Services
We encourage an adult atmosphere here at Fortunata Winery and it's a great place to relax. We are a 21+ only establishment, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. We love our four legged family members and we know you do too. We do permit registered service animals only. We no longer allow pets on property or in our villas effective 10-2021 due to repeat issues.
Reservations are typically not needed, feel free to come on in, grab a table, and make yourself at home. Since we are in our peak season we are only accepting limited reservations for parties of 8 or more so we may leave the remainder open for walk in customers and smaller parties. Fortunata is 21+ only.

We had our daughter's wedding at this venue in January. We were worried about space and weather, but everything worked out, everyone fit nicely, and it was so pretty. Everyone had a good time. The catered food was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. The venue is very reasonably priced and the wedding coordinator did an awesome job, doing EVERYTHING to setting up, services, and taking care of us. The rooms/houses/villas were very nice, clean, and pretty.

We celebrated a milestone birthday at Fortunata and had a fabulous experience. Jeannette and her team were so accommodating and helped make the evening memorable. The private space was perfect for our gathering and well decorated, the caterer was flexible with our menu selections, and we were also able to hire a black jack table and one of their singers. Our guests really enjoyed themselves and Dana was amazing to ensure the evening went smoothly. Highly recommend this venue for your next event!

This is why we decided to host our wedding anniversary reception here - it was our first time celebrating with family since we eloped during COVID (2020) so it was a pretty big deal for us. We wanted to share the Fortunata experience with our loved ones.
I will share a few of the many things that went wrong but the saddest part was that I reached out to the coordinator and owner afterwards and gave a 1.5-month wait time (providing ample time for people to return from holidays and vacations

Quaint neighborhood winery perfect for a weekend staycation or after work relaxation time.
I have visited twice now with my boyfriend now fiancé and celebrated my birthday with a small group of friends. Excellent atmosphere for those wanting a quiet place, with great acoustic performances and the best brick oven pizzas I have EVER had. Their house special sangria is literally just as good as if you went to Barcelona. I am not kidding.
The staff is so friendly, they make you feel like your visiting a friends house and the small lanterns in the alcove of trees just make this place feel like your

Best winery around . Great wine, pizza . different band weekly and owners are wonderful. We go at least every other Saturday. We got lucky this time and J let us sit by the fire. You usually have to call ahead for that space.
If you haven't been give it a try. Traffic a bit difficult on 380 but it's all worth it.

I absolutely love their wine selection, my favorite is the red blend. The wood fired pizza it's to die for! I have tried the Fortunata, Capricciosa, Mexicana and Dolcemela, the Mexicana is my favorite though (Asadero cheese, pork, avocado, pico, sour cream and tomatillo sauce) Their sangria is so delicious and refreshing in the summer days. Be prepared to go outside in the cold to pick up your food. Even if your handicap & use a cane. My friend asked if her order could be delivered to our table since she uses a cane from recent surgery. The bartender told her no, she would have to get it herself. We were miss charged for our glass of wine. The bartender would not admit his error. I tried to discuss my frustration with the manager. The atmosphere and pizza were great, if you can get there before they run out. The staff seemed nice if not a little overworked.
However do not book this venue for an event. They will cancel on you in order to take a customer that's willing to pay more. If your event needs a firm date and location, you absolutely need to find a venue that values work ethic and has some integrity. You could likely hold your booking if you planned your wedding for a Tuesday morning here, but you're still just rolling the dice.

Absolutely do not attempt to plan any events here. They will cancel your reservation to anyone willing to pay more and then tell you that they’ve double-booked. This seems to be an integrity issue and a bad business practice.

Very comfortable atmosphere, food is good, although it could definitely be better (the pizza, however, is EXCELLENT!). Excellent selection of wines, outstanding in fact.and the outside patio area is one of the highlights of an evening out. They had fantastic live music, and it was the perfect setting for a very enjoyable evening!

Came here on a Saturday and it was a great day! Very casual place, you don't need a reservation just walk in... you go to the bar and order and then just sit where you want outside. They have a lot of nice areas to sit, and you can wander around a bit. We got the 6 wine flight and you just go up to the bar when youre ready for your next one, and we also got the cheese board which was very good, their pizzas also looked amazing.... They have a chapel & hotel rooms on the property & we saw them setting up for a wedding... very nice little day here if you want a casual wine day!

Fortunata Winery is definitely one of my favorite wineries in the Dallas area! The winery has a very Tuscan feel to it and has plenty of seating outside. Their brick oven pizzas are so delicious and you can't go wrong with any of their wines. They have a variety of wines that satisfy all types of palates. This is a perfect spot for date night or a girl's night out and the ambiance of the place is perfect once the sun starts to set and the string lights are all lit up. My significant other took me on a surprise date day. We drove for awhile and suddenly this winery appeared out of nowhere lol.
Let me first start by stating, we went on a Saturday afternoon and they were extremely busy, so some of my "issues" could have been due to the amount of people there. So to start off, open parking but it isn't paved (grass and rocks) so be prepared for that. You enter and wait in line to order your food and/or wine. They have tasting, glass, and bottle options. We opted for a bottle of Muscat Canelli. It was light, fresh, and perfect for a warm spring day
