There are a lot of practical matters that you have to attend to, and decisions you must make, to ensure a proper memorial service and burial.
Did you know that many funeral homes and cremation providers in Pierce County are owned by large chains and multinationals? This remote ownership can be hidden because, when a conglomerate takes over a funeral home, the name is often left unchanged. The same cannot be said for the service. Under the disguise of a family firm, prices are usually increased, cremation services are contracted out and employees are trained to upsell merchandise.

Recently had the unfortunate opportunity to make use of the Powers Funeral Home services. I was very pleased with the staff, facilities and services offered by them. They provided above and beyond what I had expected, even going also far as to utilize the owner's personnel laptop to conduct the online streaming when the regular equipment was on the fritz. A full 5 stars from me.

From the very first time I called to advise of the upcoming loss and throughout the process they dealt with me in a calm and supportive, and positive way.
On the evening I called to inform them of the loss, the two members of Power's staff came to the house within an hour of the call and were quick but very respectful in their handling of things and treated both the family and the deceased with care and respect.
All of the staff at Powers that myself and family interacted with were kind, understanding, and helpful.
After I had picked up the Urn I had a follow up question and called them once

Very disappointed with the care of everything. Felt totally disrespected, everything that was promised was not done correctly. Had to constantly have staff correct things. Our loved one was not placed in the casket with care, not prepped properly for viewing. We complained and they cleaned up his appearance and clothes.. They were unable to straighten his legs so they had to cross them. It looked like they had just tossed him in the casket.
Bookmarks that where ordered for remembrance had not been ordered until 3 days prior to the service. Pictures where not put on there website as promised until

When dealing with the loss of my fathers sudden departure from this world the only place that came to our mind at the time was powers. My grandparents both had been through them and were great. However that was 7 and 20 years ago. Our experience with my dad was much worse. We went down and did all the paper work.....cremation cost my poor widowed mother just under $3k!!!! Shocked as we were not even having his service there....that was JUST cremation. Fine we pay it as we had no other ideas......it took them 2.5 weeks to cremate my dad because they didn't have a big enough box!!!😡 my dad was
