Services
Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School was established in 1984 as a result of a Consent Decree between the City of San Francisco and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Although it opened its doors in the Silver Terrace neighborhood, today it is located at 400 Mansell Avenue, in the Southeastern corner of San Francisco.
For all night meetings except Student Success Night, we invite you to use the upper teachers' parking lot for your convenience. From Mansell Street take Bowdoin one block North (down a steep hill) to Olmstead. Turn right 1/2 block into the gates. Take an immediate right up the ramp between the building and a cement wall.
Volunteers are needed to help with projects, serve on committees, represent Burton at Enrollment Fairs and help with fundraising. We need your ideas and energy! If you are interested in learning more about how to support your student, come to our PTSA meetings in the Library on the 2nd floor. Potluck & socializing from 5:30-5:45pm, and then announcements, guest speakers and meeting from 5:45-6:45pm.
See you there!. Come see a college counselor ASAP to get help completing it before then. If you have not yet completed your Financial Aid application, please join them to get it done! Snacks will be provided. Attendance for all 12th grade students is mandatory and we urge parents to join their student to begin the financial aid application process.
Hobbies: I enjoy hiking on, around, and inside volcanoes and playing board games with the Board Game Club. Hobbies: When I am not teaching I like to do trail running and cook new dishes for my family. Hobbies: The outdoors are my extracurricular passion: backpacking, hiking, kayaking, and camping are all activities I regularly enjoy.

My son is getting a great education here and chose the school specifically for their dynamic band program and engineering pathway. It also has the only health sciences pathway in the district and is partnered with UCSF (for the future doctors and nurses out there).

Not much things happen around here. Quiet time can be a little "Boring" sometimes. The outside of the Main building seems a lot grey and aged. Most of the students here are nice, some are mean. Classes such as Band is kind of fun. Some classes like Science gives us a little too much homework. Otherwise, this school, overall, it's probably not the best school in San Francisco, Its just... OK....

Burton HS is genuinely a fantastic school with amazing students and a sincere staff. Burton has plenty of extracurricular programs and clubs to help students succeed and feel like they're a part of a community. Simply put, love this school!
