Services
Since our founding, the guiding principle of Bussell Family Funerals has been the commitment of caring for each family as our own. With sincerity, pride, and dedication, we are committed to this time-honored tradition. Bussell Family Funerals was built on a foundation of honoring God and serving families.
Growing up in Anderson, IN Rick was a lover of all sports, but especially baseball, golf, and IU basketball. Rick was a proud Class of 1966 Madison Heights High School graduate and spoke often of games at the Wigwam. He attended the University of Evansville before becoming a member of the inaugural class of the Northwood.
Donna R. Bussell, Licensed Funeral Director, is a graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service, Jeffersonville, Indiana. She served as Chaplain for her class while earning her degree. The twenty years of experience, beginning with the original Smith Funeral Home in Carmel, confirm the continuing desire of Donna's heart: serving people during their seasons of loss and grief.
Many people plan for life events such as weddings and vacations well in advance, but many people do not plan for something that is certain to happen, their funeral. While most people do not want to think about their own morality, the time to pre-plan your funeral is now. The primary advantages of pre-arranging your funeral is to relieve the burden of end of life choices and ensure your wishes are carried out.
Meaningful memorialization of a loved one's passing can transform, heal, and comfort us. It highlights our loved ones' sacrifices, reminds us of the things that they value, and inspires us with their life stories. Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a program created by The Funeral and Memorial Information Council, was designed to help families have meaningful conversations about the things that matter most in their lives.

Our family was devastated by the passing of three family members in the last 13 months. All of their funerals were in the compassionate care of Donna and her team. They effortlessly managed the funeral services (in a pandemic nonetheless). The first two visitations were held at the Bussell site which was perfect for what we needed and the most recent took place in a church when we needed a larger venue. The most recent loss occurred the Sunday before Christmas and she made herself so readily available and was able to help us celebrate his life prior to Christmas. Donna is so kind and caring. She

Donna with Bussell Family Funerals left an imprint on me and my brother's hearts that will never be erased. Losing our father was extremely difficult for us. Donna was so loving, caring, and kind from the first moment we met her. She treated our father as if he were a member of her own family. She assisted us and was patient and helpful throughout the whole entire process. I am sorry there are only 5 stars to rate Bussell Family Funerals because they deserve the entire galaxy.

Donna,
Thank you for your compassion and professionalism during this difficult time. We were so pleased with the service you provided especially with the challenging restrictions of covid. There is no doubt that your God given gift is a blessing to those that are benefiting.

Donna and staff, thank you so much for all you did for our mom and for the support in getting through a very difficult time. It's so hard to lose someone you love and your love, kindness and support helped in dealing with the loss. Mom loved you all and so enjoyed being a part of your grief support group. Thank you for loving her back.
Karen.

When my mother passed on we were treated like it was Donna's family member. So sweet. 10 years later my Dad joined Mom and Donna Bussell was again there for us. Such a load off our shoulders. What a great experience during the worst of times. I still hear from the Bussell staff close to a year later wanting to help with our grieving if needed. Such tender hearts. Our gratitude to you.

When my father passed away our parish priest recommended that I work with Bussell Family Funerals for the arrangements. I called Donna on the saddest of days and she met me with such kindness and compassion, and a hug. Donna and her staff handled my father and the arrangements with the greatest dignity and for that I'm grateful. It's been ten months since then and they reached out last week to see how I was doing. I was touched by their thoughtfulness. Thank you Bussell Family Funerals for guiding me through this experience and beyond. You really are the face of Christ in difficult times.

The care and compassion of Bussell Family Funeral is beyond words. I was truly treated like family as they tenderly cared for my husband with such dignity and respect. They still continue to follow up with me to see how I am doing. This is an outstanding family who understands what you need when you are at an emotional loss and helps you through everything with such grace.

Bussell Family Funeral,
In the early hours on Feb 16, 2020, our Father, Mario, went home to be with the Lord. As soon I reached hospital, I knew the next call I needed to make was to Bussell Family Funeral. At 5AM that morning, I was able to connect with Donna who had cared for our sister a few years ago, and she immediately knew who I was. My father had so graciously planned and prepared almost everything he wanted before his death, so Donna once again walked us down this most difficult time and made sure we had everything we needed.
