Julio Ybarra is a personal trainer, founder of Ascent Personal Training, and keynote speaker, who helps people achieve their best in their health and fitness. Julio has earned two certification from The National Academy of Sports Medicine, and completed the exercise science, nutrition and psychology courses at Mesa Community College.
Our private sessions are carefully designed, taking into consideration not only your goals, but also your ability level, your understanding of exercise fundamentals, and your level of commitment. Personal Training is offered in 30-45 minute sessions and your trainer will be there every step of the way.

I really enjoyed working with Julio, he was always very mindful of what felt right and what didn’t. His workouts were amazing and really worked my whole body. Unfortunately I have to relocate out of state otherwise I would have stayed with him. I am confident he would have gotten me to my goal weight. I am so sad to leave but wanted to ensure that anyone who is contemplating getting a personal trainer to check out Ascent Personal Training, it’s a life changer!

Julio is a wonderful personal trainer who really knows his stuff. He is constantly learning and studying to help his clients improve their overall fitness and nutrition. He challenges you to be your best. My sister has been working with him for years and she is in top physical shape. He personally helped me with a recovery plan after abdominal surgery and continues to give me quality fitness guidelines. I highly recommend him and this facility if you are looking for a personal trainer.

I have been training with Julio for a many years now. He is a well educated fitness professional who takes the time to really work with each client for the best results. He is very well versed in corrective exercise, which is very important for my goals. He has helped me recover from a detached bicep surgery as well as hip replacement surgery. His knowledge of nutrition is excellent as well. Overall I would highly recommend him to anyone who is serious about their fitness goals. He is very easy to work with, a beginner or an experienced gym rat will feel comfortable working with him.

I was an intern for Julio at Ascent Personal Training for a couple months, and was able to understand the business model, exercise programming, and the thought process behind each client. Julio is truly one of a kind. He is thinking about more than just the exercise but rather the science behind it, how it will benefit you in the future, how it fits your fitness goals, and how it can avoid injuries. He thinks in depth about each program he designs, I firsthand was able to work with him and see his thought process. He devotes time to each client to make sure they are getting the best service possible

Julio is an excellent personal trainer. He strongly encourages work ethic and dedication, as is with you the entire time to help you learn everything you need to be successful in fitness. From form lifting weights to instruction on how to work out on your own, its 100% there. Cannot recommend Julio more.

Julio is excellent at what he does! It is evident that he is truly passionate about his work and clients. I have know him for many years and had the pleasure of working with him on and off for a good majority of that time. What I like most is that he educates you. He doesn't just tell you what to do, he tells you how and why you're doing it. He's extremely professional and personable. The gym is always immaculate and I love that it is very private.

Over the years I have had multiple trainers. Working with Julio has been awesome. I had a terrblte fall Feb 2018. I injured my flexors and groin on both legs. These areas can take months to heal. His stragic plan has helped me immensely to regain strength and stability. I would recommend Julio highly. His training programs are customized for each of his clients.

I have been working with Julio now for over 7 years. He has taught me that it's not all about just exercising. I have had trainers that it was all about pushing the weights. Julio teaches that we need to take care of the whole body, with good nutrition, meditation, sleep and exercise. Julio will sit down with you and together you will decide what you want to achieve and how to best get to your destination. He will coach you and encourage you each step of the way. I would encourage anyone to begin their ascent with Julio. I am so glad that I have him in my corner.

Over the past 5 years I have had 4 personal trainers and I must say that Julio is by far the most knowledgeable trainer I’ve ever had. I have been in 2 bodybuilding competitions and have placed top 5 in both shows. I even placed first in the “first timers” category under the direction of this fabulous trainer.
