Dean Knudson decided to become a veterinarian after watching one of his horses being treated by the family vet. While growing up he raised cattle, sheep, swine, poultry, and horses, but it was the bond with his family's dogs and cats that led him to pursue a career in small animal medicine. After studying zoology and microbiology at North Dakota State University, Dean attended Iowa State University, receiving his veterinary degree in 1986.
Dean has a depth of experience in small animal medicine, including general practice, emergency, and critical care medicine, practice management, relief practice and consulting. He served as medical director of Pineview Animal Hospital in Sunrise, FL and Hillcrest Animal Hospital in Hudson.

Both docs are fantastic. Check-ups are easy and thorough - the docs are super knowledgeable and non-judgemental. They are compassionate and supportive during the most difficult of decisions. The vet techs are also amazing. Exceedingly patient with my high energy/ anxious dog's nail trims - all 100lbs of him, slobbering, flailing, fur-flying, whining - it's no big deal for them.

I have yet to have a bad experience with New Richmond Vet. The care they offer to me and my pets, from the second we walk in the door to when we leave, is second to none. The staff are all so genuine, compassionate, and take the time to answer questions, ease concerns and fears, etc. Would absolutely recommend.

A well-run machine! The doctor was absolutely fabulous and the technician was so kind and helpful when I took my rescue lab mix in for a concern I had. I certainly was nervous because I am not from the area but the folks here made me feel very comfortable. They also expressed that if I have further concerned and I'm not in the area they will always review a picture provided through email and give me guidance. Thank y'all!

I would highly recommend going to New Richmond veterinarian clinic Dakota Tilleraas DVM she was very professional and an amazing vet her and her staff were just amazing and very knowledgeable. They were the only ones around the area that was willing to see us in
an emergency situation. I would highly recommend going there to anyone I know. I will definitely drive 20 minutes to pick up my dog's heart medication. Thanks so much Carrie. P.

Finally found a good vet after going through others in Hudson. They actually do the check ups in the room with you, which is a huge sign of a good vet. My dog used to love our Keller Lake vet in MN and the ones we tried in Hudson have made her terrified of going. Not NR Vet! So glad we found them! Very thorough, friendly with the animals, and reasonably priced and not trying to gouge every little penny like others.

Our 10 year old puggle recently had surgery in a very difficult spot on his leg to remove a mast cell tumor. Dr. Knudson was very transparent and thorough throughout the process.
He did such a great job with my little guy and took his time answering all our questions and addressing concerns. Very much appreciated because we know how busy he was that day with other surgeries and patients. He takes his responsibility to the animals very seriously and it shows tenfold.
They were able to get us in very quickly as a post surgery exam, at no charge, a couple days after the surgery when our dog was

I can't say enough great things about the staff here. We live over an hour away and I won't bring my fur babies anywhere else. Dr Joy has taken care of our animals for as long as I can remember. They are always so patient and helpful - I always know that they will be there to help in whatever way that they can when we need them.
This morning we had a minor emergency and they took us right in (knowing that I had driven over an hour) so that my cat could get the surgery for his abscess that he needed.
