I began Piedmont Psychotherapy in 2004, when I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Since then, I've grown my practice to include psychotherapy services, supervision for post-graduate interns and practice-building consultation for helping professionals. My goal is to be helpful to you. Here's my philosophy: Life is about authenticity and connection.
It's about being healthy and making good choices for yourself while living a meaningful life in our community. My clients are ready to feel better and are open to new insights applied to old problems and new circumstances. They need a safe space and a good person to talk to.

Services
Although clients come from all over the East Bay, Piedmont Psychotherapy serves primarily the Oakland and Piedmont areas. It's conveniently situated between the 580 Freeway and Highway 13, and between Pleasant Valley (Grand Avenue/51st Street) and MacArthur. A perfect place to take a walk, have a cup of coffee or a piece of pizza, and window shop.
Clients who carry medical insurance, generally have behavioral/mental health benefits which apply to psychotherapy services. I am an Out-Of-Network provider, as I am not enrolled in any provider networks. My services are rendered and charged to the client. Clients must pay the full fee for services out-of-pocket, later to seek their own reimbursement.
Psychotherapy is a path toward wellness and balance, determined by the client and guided by a mental health professional. It includes talking with a therapist, either directly or symbolically about the experiences of the client. Art, music, dance, play and the spoken word (among others) are all forms of expression used by therapists to understand the internal world of a client, and facilitate transformation.
It's not all about credentials and designations, it's about finding a person you can trust who can guide you through a personal growth process. If you are looking to apply your insurance to the session fees, call or visit the website of your insurance carrier. Many have copay programs and you can use "in network" or "out of network" therapists.

I first found Jennifer a year ago when I desperately needed help after inflicting a deep wound on myself. I had severe depression and had been treated by two other therapists and a few online therapists but to no avail. When I found Jennifer the first three sessions were really intense, we came to realize how much I was affected by my parents who also didn't know how to express their emotions healthily, and that all these emotions built up made me feel worthless and suicidal. I am so grateful for Jennifer to finally have helped me find and deal with the root to my issues, not just the symptoms
