This was the most horrible experience ever. Besides being overpriced for the small and disgusting room, my friend who has a disability and service dog was attacked verbally by the owner and accused of being a liar without a disability. The owner also demanded details on her disability as she continued to attack both of us verbally which continued on when returning the keys which they never gave me back
My $20 deposit for and also attempted to charge $200 for the service dog. I believe my friend will be filing a lawsuit against the hotel for their violation of demanding medical information and

A client I work with stayed here for 3 days with her business partner. I live locally and visited over the few days to take them to dinner, and show them around. We were literally harassed everytime we came and went, and kindly let the reception know only 2 people were indeed staying in the room. The angry front desk ladies ended up charging them for an extra guest in the end! Are paying adults never allowed to have a guest or visitor??
The room was cute but wow, I have never encountered such a rude front desk in my life.

My wife and I stayed here 15 years ago. We just stayed here again for my 8 year old daughter's first ocean trip. This motel is basic and outdated. It is also half or better the cost of any other place that is located on the beach and in town. If you are expecting a boutique experience then you better find a different place to stay. If you have kids I doubt you could do better on a budget. Staff was friendly and attentive. They also have a pool.

My new husband and I arrived to find this hotel emmaculately cleaned and updated. There were 2 queen sized beds, a balcony with 2 lounge chairs and there is a nice flat screen TV. The bathroom has a full sized tub. There is a nice little kitchenette with all we needed to cook simple meals. The views are great and it was very easy to get to. All the staff wr encountered were courteous and kind. The location was perfect for walking to 7 eleven and IGA or to the village. We can't wait to come back again. This is the beginning of a beautiful tradition.

Wasn't sure what type of review I was going to write after last night, but after talking to the owner this morning it's 5 stars all the way.
Very early this morning at 5am, our next door neighbors came back very loud and drunk, screaming, yelling and blasting music, waking up both my fiancée and I. Since their office is closed at night, I thought that they simply just let people party like that and if you don't like it then don't stay here. I thought that it wouldn't hurt just to bring it up to the owner. When I did, she was super sincere and understanding and let me

They charged us $600 a night for a room that was stuck in the 1970’s. The toilet bowl was colored brown which screamed it needed renovations. The mirrors were all chipped and paint was peeling. The kitchen area was left with no light due to dying bulbs. The refrigerator and air conditioning did not get cold. They insisted the fridge was warm because our food was warm. How does warm food in a fridge make the fridge warm. Makes no sense. The staff was incredibly rude from the start when we requested more towels and they refused. The place had a terrible odor that would not go away no matter how

Not sure where to really begin with this review but will start by saying do not ever stay here this was by far the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. I came with two friends basically chose this place because we weren't going to be in the room at all just needed somewhere to sleep and it was the cheapest we could find. As soon as we park and enter the office I was immediately yelled at to leave and was told she only needed one person In the office at a time, I don't believe I remember her name but for the sake of the review we can call her Karen, it's only Karen

If giving no stars was an option, this would be the place to use it. Images on website are of their updated rooms which for 600 dollars a night to my understanding is what I would be receiving. The motel has two wings and the wing I stayed in was straight out a 1970's movie motel. AC was broken an blew warm air, freezer worked but not the fridge and we were barely able to open the SLIDING door to the balcony, not to mention a very pungent odor would not leave the room no matter how much we sprayed. Like anyone we called to complain and instead of fixing any problem they simply looked at it

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL OF THE BAD REVIEWS. Trust me, you will find the common complaint and you will stay away! I don't normally put the time in to write reviews. If it's a 5 star I'll write, if it's mediocre I won't bother. If anyone put anything over a 1 Star for the Sands motel is a complete lie and they were paid to write a review! This is a family owned establishment and they all work there. I am positive that they use different names to write good reviews on the internet.

This hotel definitely gets the job done if you're looking for simple place to stay. Nothing special. The only thing wrong with this motel is the staff. Never have I encountered such miserable staff. Yelled at everyone over phone & then in person. A friend picked us up for 2 seconds a women came out & started cussing & screaming at them at parking lot after they told her they were sorry & were moving the car! They should definitely be embarrassed about how they act towards they're costumers. We left a product & called to say we were coming back to get it & the lady

We checked in, the AC didn’t work, waited for maintenance who never showed up and when we confronted the girl at the front desk she said we got loud and kicked us out. She said the maintenance was eating dinner and couldn’t be there within the 2 hours we waited. Place was dirty to begin with. What a joke! Don’t waste your time or money.

For my wife and I, spending time in Montauk is all about the beach. The Sands is our home away from home when in Montauk. Although it's not directly on the beach, the ocean is right across the street and parking for those other than motel patrons is very limited, which adds up to the least crowded section of beach in the village. The location is fabulous. You can walk everywhere. The Sands is not the Ritz Carlton, nor does it claim to be. However we always stay in the west wing, second floor and couldn't be happier withe the room. We are regulars, so for us, it's like staying with family.

I hate to even leave this review seeing as how my grandparents, my parents, and myself have been coming here for years, but I feel as if I have to. My boyfriend and I came here for my birthday the last weekend of August, and they put us in room 25, which is still outdated with wood paneling and a tiny shower stall. My boyfriend is 6 foot 3 inches tall, and he could barely fit in the shower stall. The reason why I point out Room 25 is because we are ALWAYS placed in room 25 every time we come here, and every time I hope it is updated and I am always disappointed. Not the worst part of my story,

Location, location, location. That's about it..
If you want to be hawked all week by the owners, this is the place for you! (While I do understand that it's difficult to run a beach front business while a bunch of tourists rip through your town..... ) we couldn't even let our friends pull up in a car without being reprimanded! 50 year old adults! Don't even think about letting someone use your bathroom. Or come to the pool...or park in the wrong place. you will be warned. Very uncomfortable. And while we understand times are changing, this is not montauk. Unfortunate!

Sands was a pleasant surprise for me, because I thought Montauk has become #roseallday and #beaching kind of place. Then you walk into Sands and meet people like Diane, Lorraine and Andrea, whose family owned the place since the 50's and there is a signed photo of Babe Ruth with their grandfather above the front desk and you feel like you are in the kind of Montauk motel that you'd always imagined. It has stunning waterviews over the dunes. It's modern, very tidy and well kept. They also offer chamomile and honey organic toiletries that smell great and of good quality. Really a great

My husband and I stayed here on Father's Day weekend. It obviously is not a resort or anything, but it was clean and affordable. It's older, but I found it charming. The people who work there were super nice when I called about a late check-in, and clearly cared about their business. You're on the beach, right by the main town. There was a slight smell to the place, but it's an older establishment on the beach. There is bound to be a slight scent. No big deal. My husband and I enjoyed a yummy take out dinner out on the dining area by the pool, it was perfect. We absolutely would

Sands is simply outstanding! We have had nothing but an amazing time every time we have stayed here! (which is many many times) We even had our guests stay here for our Wedding back in July 2016. Many of our friends and family stayed and loved it. Diane was unbelievably accommodating and helpful throughout all our Wedding planning! She even allowed us to have our rehearsal dinner on the grounds. We needed a large place since most of our guests were from out of town and we couldn't find a spot in Montauk that would work. Diane let us use the picnic tables and grills and we had a backyard barbecue

Stayed at this motel despite some of the negative reviews. Made a reservation in person about a month prior to ensure I was able to secure a reservation. Dropped a call that morning to ensure a late check in and to find the door unlocked and my keys waiting.
When I arrived I found a recently updated, simple, small-ish, well maintained room with decent bedding and a mildly antiseptic odor throughout (see also: CLEAN!). No carpeting, just laminate flooring. Bathroom was also fairly modern and clean with a stand up shower.
Staff was professional and obviously care about the well being of their
