Oakdell Motel

The price is great and the people are nice. It needs some upgrades but it was simple and comfortable. The TV was a 20 inch which was hard to see. It's very quiet and also closer to the Casino and shopping.

Clean and safe simple motel. I’ve been visiting for many years and ownership change last year. Rates are reasonable and friendly staff.

Outdated would be ok if place was clean. We paid $377.00 for 2 nights during hurricane and it was filthy. Tile floor and Carpet so filthy my 3rd pair of socks were still picking up dirt. Rusty heater. Old air unit so smelly we did not use it the 2and night . Opened windows to try to get musty smell out of room. Disgusted that health department doesn't check these places better for the public. Got a massive headache both days because of the smell. Do not stay here if you are smell sensitive. Room was gross.

Definitely a motel experience, so gauge your expectations. Having said that, the experience was very pleasant. The room was clean, functioning air conditioner, refrigerator, etc. Plenty of parking, and nicely located for local attractions. Very friendly and helpful owner!

Small cozy hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are equipped refrigerator, microwave and air conditioning. Be was Comfy. Close to many attractions/ Beaches

It was my first stop to finding a place for the night and I was so fortunate that they only had one room left. As I checked the room to see the conditions of it, immediately I was very happy with the room. Everything was so clean and so well maintained. The owner was very nice from the start. I will definitely come back here and request that same room if available again.

Worst experience ever. The room was dusty and dirty. The bed sheets are cheap and not even fitted. The blankets had burn holes in them. Air conditioner was old and and full of dust, it hadn’t been cleaned in years. Worst of all there were bugs in the bed and all over the room. The man at the desk was so rude when we told him about how disappointed we were with the room and our stay. Also the pool was not opened! Would not recommend staying here.

The owner is Great to deal with. Great rates yes, but you get what you pay for. In my room the floor appeared to be new. The dresser had holes drilled in it where something might have been attached at one time. The bed seemed to have a rubberized bottom sheet (understandably) but it didn't breathe and I woke up sweating. The tiny bathroom shower needed replacing. There's no place to set your shower items and the shower knob gets in the way of moving around. The TV was tiny. Overall I thought the place clean.

I'm giving the Oakdell Motel 5 Stars because my room was clean and comfortable. I was actually quite impressed by how neat and tidy everything was. Even the motel grounds were well taken care of. I felt safe and secure. My stay was peaceful and relaxing. The Owner was helpful and kind. The next time I'm in the area I plan on staying again. Thank you, Oakdell Motel. See you soon. The stay here was an Amazing experience. The property is beautiful and the each room is different in its own way. They are super clean. I would recommend this hotel over any hotel in New London. If you are looking for a comfortable stay, long or short, this is it!

We enjoyed our stay at the Oakdell Motel for several reasons. First, I like roadside motels of this kind, so called "mom and pop" places, and second I thought the owner was very nice and sincere, and I truly believe she is a person of great faith who wishes the best for her customers and clients without any kind of pressure or agenda. If I can give this 0 stars I would. Room smelled awful, sheets were stained. This was recommended by Mohegan Sun and I do not understand why. We didn't stay the night bc it was terrible, had to drive two hours home at 1am after the concert we saw. Lady won't even call me back to credit my card for a room I never stayed in. Do not stay here.

I'm something of a connoisseur of cheap motels - I even have a fantasy of retiring and opening one up someday, along some back road of this big country, opening my arms to all the diverse folks who happen along and hearing their stories. Nowadays they often smell of curry and house entire extended families from exotic places like India and Pakistan.

We are frequent overnight weekend trip folks and often stay in motels and after our experience last night I'm starting a do not stay motel list because Oakdell Motel in Groton, CT is DEAD to me. We booked a hotel to stay near the casino so that we could head up to Rhode Island THE NEXT DAY. We stayed here once before and while the room was ok, albeit old and rundown, there's religious paraphernalia EVERYWHERE including all over the front desk office when we checked in. I needed a place to stay last minute and found this gem through yelp. They were so kind and helpful, even at 4am. The room was super clean and cozy! The place has a very nice atmosphere with many places to enjoy the outdoors. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! My fiance and I were very unfortunate to stay here for my birthday so that we could go to the casino near the motel, well we came home with more than our winnings we now have BED BUGS. Yes you read that right we brought home BED BUGS with us. So I hope that you read this before you book a room because your going to get more than a place to stay you also will bring home BED BUGS if you stay here if I could have given it no stars I would have. My family and I stayed there this labor day weekend. The owners were incredibly nice and made us feel at home right away. Rooms are clean with no extra frills but comfortable enough. Grounds are great with pool, fire pits, grills, and nature walk. Great place to stay with children!
