First let's define Long Term Care (LTC) - LTC is a service or range of services provided to those who are no longer able, or have difficulty, performing two of six activities of daily living, such as getting out of bed, dressing, eating, or suffer from severe cognitive impairment, and the condition is determined by a medical professional to last at least 90 days or longer.
Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD). Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) - Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care.
