We're known for many of our 'firsts, ' such as being the first accredited Chest Pain Center in Nevada, and first to receive The Joint Commission's Advanced Certification for inpatient diabetes in the country. And of course, our patients always come first. Nine Valley Health System employees were honored, including the Grand Prize winner Amanda Hamm, RN, Clinical Supervisor.
The hospital was honored as the Gold winner in the Best Hospital category by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center is a 282-bed acute care facility that has been providing quality healthcare to residents of Southern Nevada since 1971. The hospital has long been referred to as "The Heart Hospital" by residents, due to its solid reputation as a leader in cardiac care. The hospital offers 24-hour emergency services and is nationally recognized for its diabetes, weight loss (bariatric) surgery, cardiac, and stroke programs.
Desert Springs Hospital is part of the Valley Health System, which is comprised of six hospitals in the Las Vegas area. There are more than 1,100 physicians representing more than 44 medical specialties in the System. The Physician Services department acts as a liaison between physicians and Desert Springs Hospital to enhance communication.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Preventing cardiovascular events before they occur is important: stopping smoking, keeping blood pressure under control, losing weight if you're overweight and increasing the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables you eat can help reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure and coronary artery disease.
Many people who are seriously overweight have tried different diets, medications and professional weight-loss services for years without long-term success. Fortunately weight-loss, or bariatric, surgery, from The Surgical Weight Control Center at Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center can help those struggling with obesity get the long-term weight loss they need and lead a longer and healthier life.
The CentRx Pharmacy on the Desert Springs Hospital campus makes getting prescriptions and picking up over-the-counter items quick and easy. Located in the front lobby, adjacent to the gift shop, the CentRx Pharmacy is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed Saturday and Sunday) to fill prescriptions written by physicians at Desert Springs Hospital or any other healthcare provider in the region.

COVID or no COVID not a pleasant place my 81 year mother who cannot hear had to sit by herself in the ER waiting room surrounded by people who were throwing things, yelling and screaming. People being treated right in waiting room. COVID patients being treated right there in open room in ER and some were being allowed to walk around others in waiting area instead of being isolated. This was not a good look for Las Vegas or this hospital. We were here on vacation and was truly disgusted. It pains me to write this And before haters write back. Most of the staff was very nice and overwhelmed.

The nurses staff was awesome they was super friendly and nice they cater to every need I need it. Down to changing my gowns making sure I had a fresh one, checking my blood pressure constantly and my temperature to make sure I was on the right track and if I was in any pain they took care of any problems

Still here after a 60 hour wait in ER. Only reason giving this place one star is because once you get out of ER you get treated with dignity, respect and transparency. ER staff is 98 percent rude and uncompassionate. Had diarrhea and begged just to be taken to bathroom. Nurses will look you dead in the eye and ignore you. They steady blamed each other for who is not doing what. My first two days in that ER I was clueless and No one seemed a bit interested in providing information. Never learned anything until after 60 hours and finally got a bed. Now then the staff outside that ER department was

The facility was very crowded and the wait time to actually receive any medical attention was ridiculous; especially because most of the staff seemed to be idle and not showing initiative in order to help people or move things along. Security is unprofessional to the point of being offensive. They also allow no one to accompany you for any reason no matter whether they're family or friends, which is outrageous when in a situation as such and needing care a well as emotional support or even transportation to and from the facility. As soon as you enter the building at any entrance, which is also

The WORST bedside manner I have ever experienced in my entire life. When a patient cries that they can’t catch their breath and asks for “help, they are rude not helpful at all i was in pain and the reception treat us like not a human we can not ask them any questions even the customer service are horrible they talk to us like we are begging them this hospital bills are so expensive and they did nothing to me and they charge me a lot just for abscess 17000 dollars and they didn't treat it at all my insurance paid it therefore they send me another bill 1800 dollars i went to specialist doctor

I went into the Emergency room feeling very sick. Was very concerned it could be covid as my best friend and her husband had both tested positive & I had spent quite a bit of time with them over the prior 2 weeks. I had a lot of same symptoms as covid. The lady that checks you in was quite rude and informed me that if I wasn't sick enough to require oxygen I had no business coming into the ER & waisting their time. Well I was diagnosed with pnumonia and admitted. Only needed to stay over night, was given meds. The care I received by doctors & nurses was through, and I was treated with appropriate

The nurses were great, friendly and professional caring. The room was kept clean by the housekeepers.
My only complaint is with Building Maintenance. The walkway leading up to the main entrance store was so slippery after the light rain I started slipping TWICE! It is a Trip Hazard. There were NO signs posted saying “slippery when wet”. The coral colored rock pattern is very pretty but I would think that a hospital would have walkways that are safe for everyone to use and not worry about aesthetics.

Check in was fairly efficient. Doctors, X-ray technicians, and CT scan technicians were competent. Visitors not allowed. Expect to be there 4 to 8 hours. Even though I had 5 of 5 negative test results, I had to wait for about 1 to 2 hours for each result. I had to wait 2 hours from the time the doctor prescribed my prescriptions to take them for pain and bad bruising. I had to wait 2 hours from the time of my last test to check out.
Paid my co-pay after being there for about 3 hours. I was there for almost 7 hours. Good thing I didn’t have any broken bones or need any surgery.
