We tried to go to trellis but the manager refused to let us sit outside. It is covid and we have compromised health people in our party. It was sunny when we arrived and she did not want to put in a little effort to open the patio during a pandemic. I was very disappointed!

Primarily plant-based restaurant, with enough options to make everyone in your party happy. My sushi bowl was done perfectly with seared salmon on top. Watermelon gazpacho was perfect on a hot day over looking the water Lily pond. The option to get a half sandwich and a salad means you and your partner can try a bunch of different things off the admittedly small menu. The menu changes monthly so even though it's not a large menu, you probably have something new to try on future visits.

Such a fun little restaurant right off of the Botanical Center featuring a deck with a pond and garden. Food is tasty but you don't get a lot for the money. Pasta meal should include a salad & bread for $13, in my humble opinion. 😊

This spot is wonderful. The food is fresh, organic and delicious! The staff is friendly and quick with the orders. The outside patio has a nice view of the Des Moines skyline. The menu changes every month to keep it fresh.

I've been to Trellis before and had a good experience, but tonight was different. We attended the "Dome after Dark" event at the Botanical Center and I was so disappointed with the food!
We paid $20+ for a small charcuterie plate + a cookie + two waters. The cookie was great, but the charcuterie board was not fresh at all. The meats and cheeses were dried out, the toast(s) were dry and hard, the grainy mustard had a skin on it, etc. I'm pretty sure it was left-over from the night/event before. Neither my boyfriend or I finished it. I expected better, and if I honestly considered asking for my

I had the half orzo pasta salad and half steak sandwich for lunch. Wouldn't have hated to have a bit more steak on it, but what I had was tasty and tender. Plus you get to sit by the pond in the shade, so that's nice. (Not sure why photo is sideways lol)

Trellis is one of my favorite spots to visit in Des Moines. They normally have very good, fresh and different types of dishes and I've rarely been disappointed.

They operate on a monthly rotating menu and they have a half and half or full portion options. On Sunday's they also have brunch and they do dinner on some Thursdays. Overall I would say everything is good- except their fish. Last time I went I got their salmon dill pasta and the salmon was inedible. Hard, dry. Not good. I wasn't going to say anything to the server but when I was having a private conversation with my mother

I was SO impressed with this little cafe at the Botanical Garden Center. Healthy and fresh options. Cauliflower soup was creamy and delicious and the fresh peach salad was a perfect summer lunch! The service was slow but it was worth the wait.

The food and service is sooooooo good!!!!!! I had to take a second dessert to go. Amazing outdoor patio over looking the outdoor ponds with the city skyline in the background. It seriously doesn’t get better than this. But... then it did. My server was a...maz....amazing!! This is definitely going to be on my list of must dos when I visit Des Moines. Note: it’s a bit confusing getting here but totally worth the navigating.

One of my favorite spots in Des Moines. Maybe helps that I am obsessed with plants and that it happens to be attached to the Botanical Gardens. Their menu is constantly changing, so you should be able to try something new every time you go. Everything I have tried has been so fresh, flavorful, and unique. You can tell they put a lot of thought into their menu. There is outdoor seating that overlooks a pond and the lovely sound of running water. Inside you still have a great view, but away from the elements. Check out the Gardens then get a bite and refreshment at Trellis!

My husband and I came here for lunch and the service is amazing and so is the food! Servers were all super friendly and food was out super quickly. This was such an awesome start to our outing at the gardens!! I love being able to look out onto the greenery if you are inside, and on nice days, there is an amazing patio!
I love the fact that their menu is very farm to table and you can look up exactly where the products come from!
I ordered the BLT Cesar salad, that was one of the best salads I have ever had! The bacon alone made the dish worth every penny! And they give you plenty!

Wonderful place to eat in a phenomenal location - especially on a winter day. The hours are unique, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, so plan ahead for that. The menu changes every month to reflect seasonality and local ingredients, so it is always a uniquely delicious experience every time I am there. Save room for dessert!!

I love this place! Fresh, local and delish food. It's always so hard to choose just one option on the menu because everything is amazing. The soups are AMAZING and the entrees are unique, light, and fresh. A fabulous place for lunch!

Trellis is a cute spot that I would definitely recommend for a lunch! The portions are decent -- I love that there is a mainly veg menu here! I also love that a portion of the proceeds goes toward supporting the botanical garden! I ordered the caprese salad and the Brie/honey/pear quesadilla. Yum!! Loved both! I love that you can have two options! My friend had the sirloin po'boy and it was just ok.

Had a great time and enjoyed the location and ambience! loved the dessert we had too. It was walnut banana cakd

What to try: the menu is always changing! But I enjoyed what I had in January

PLANTS + GOOD FOOD. That's basically all I need and lucky for me, exactly what Trellis has to offer. I've eaten here twice in the last few years while at the Botanical Gardens during DSM visits, and both times have been superb. I most recently visited over the holiday and was able to meet the chef and her three lovely daughters who were working while home in Iowa. The restaurant (and entire facility, really) is a bright and fresh breath of fresh air, especially during an Iowa winter.

The menu here is ever changing and seasonal with a little something for everyone. On my last visit I

My wife and I tried Trellis for the first time this weekend, and it definitely won't be our last. It can be easy to forget about Trellis since it's kinda off of the beaten path in the Des Moines Botanical Gardens. But once you weave your way there, it's well worth it! We were able to snag the last available table, as there was a large party dining, but it seemed like there would have been plenty of seating otherwise. Their menu changes monthly, so I don't think it'd be valuable discussing each dish. But let me just say, it was all incredible and we would both order our

So fresh and delicious. Menu tells you where their local food is being sourced from. Love that you get to eat inside the gardens too. They change the menu every month, but we had:

Three sisters soup, which was just beans with squash and carrots but had so much flavor!

Charred broccoli salad, which really just tasted like salad with carrots, broccoli, ranch, and sunflower seeds but was good!

Breakfast style tacos, my husband absolutely loved.

Daughter ate her entire pb & j, which she has never ever done before. The whole grain bread it was on looked delicious, I should have snuck a bite

What a great place, beautiful views at the Botan and amazing food.
They were so helpful with how to vegan-ize the menu for us and the coffee was awesome too.
We went on New Years Eve to warm up and feel some humidity in the dead of winter in Iowa. Great idea and it was so nice to sit and pretend we live in a tropical climate :-P

Thankful to have a great space with many options for all dietary choices!
