Most of the wait staff has been here since 1992. The girls on the mural are Sam, Stephanie and Kelly. Combined they have put in over 38 years. The entire staff at the Waveland will treat you like family, serve you quickly, and make sure you enjoy your meal. It won't take long for you to realize why you feel so at home in our store.

I absolutely love this establishment and if you are visiting dsm in ANY capacity, I highly recommend you find your way here. Every server has the attention to detail and hospitality that us Iowans crave. I reccomend the Momoa Style Breakfast with extra crispy hashbrowns! Better come with a appetite for that one though, I barely made it through but so tasty every darn time!

What is there to say? There are about six good breakfast spots in the Metro and it doesn't matter what gimmick the others have, mimosa bar or orange infused whipped cream or whatever. There is a reason they have a line out the door rain, snow, sleet, or derecho.

Great food! The staff is busy but still gets your order correct and the food to you as soon as they can. Always good food and great service. Nothing is cheap and gross. It's and older style building but that's what makes the dinner a great place to eat! The food selection is large and something for everyone on the menu

Waveland Cafe is riding the crest of public approval these days and for good reasons! Good food, friendly service, hometown character and history. My only complaint about the "skillet" meal was that it looked and tasted like an omelet over hash browns. Where's the skillet? Parking is a hassle even if you get a space out front - then it's hard to get out. Even so it was a full cafe at 10 am on Tuesday.
UPDATE JULY 2021 - Still humming along with great food and local character. My Everything Hashbrowns had just the right amount of jalapenos for my palate. Full cafe on a rainy Saturday morning.

Really warm and comfy atmosphere. The dine in can’t fit up to 45 people. Plenty of space but when it’s the rush hour, you might have to come in early as there will be a line. Trust me, the food is worth the wait :)
The food being serve here are delicious (specially for the affordable price), you have to try out their Waveland’s beat skillet! It’s delicious and well season! It’s a decent size for one person serving but not to worry cause you can always order anything you want in the menu half the size. My favorite food here is their hash brown, it’s golden brown crunchy on the outside
