Foundation For SBHS
Half of our student body qualifies for Free and Reduced lunches and 1-in-10 students live in substandard housing, therefore the need at SBHS is significant. In 2015, the national average for education spending per pupil was $12,526. California's average state spending per pupil was $9,417 when adjusted for the cost of living.

Support from parents, grandparents, alumni and community members adds up for your students at Santa Barbara High School. Since our inception in 2008, the Foundation has raised $9.1 million for SBHS, and leveraged even more for our school. Join us today!
Services
Our mission is to fund projects that will strengthen the academic program at Santa Barbara High School, improve the physical campus, and enrich the variety of extracurricular activities so that all students have the opportunity to excel both inside and outside the classroom. Capital Campaigns raise funds for major facility improvement work for our 44-acre campus, and historic school, built in 1924.
In 2013, the beautiful, newly renovated JR Richards Gymnasium reopened. The District and Foundation collaborated on this $1 million project. Community members, alumni, and current families contributed more than $300,000 to refurbish the gym, install a new floor, new ceiling, new lighting, new scoreboards, and new equipment for our students and the larger community.
The Foundation for Santa Barbara High School is a non-profit organization formed by parents who saw a significant discrepancy between the needs of the students and the school's available funding, and were motivated to provide Santa Barbara High School students with the best possible education.

The Foundation for Santa Barbara High School works closely with the administration of the school to identify funding priorities that address critical needs of the school, have the potential to positively impact a majority of students, and are outside the scope of the school budget.A first-class public school serves the interests of our entire community.
