If so, there are tools to help manage these behaviors. Sometimes, the activities that once provided happiness and pleasure in life can become difficult to control. This can lead to emotional pain, troubled relationships, and difficulty managing many areas in life. Ask yourself an important question: Are these activities helping me achieve my ultimate goals or getting in the way of my success?
If so, we can work together to help you feel better. Anxiety is a normal response to difficult situations-however, in some people anxiety occurs too often or gets in the way of leading a full, rewarding life. Some common symptoms of anxiety include problems with sleep, muscle tension, irritability, and unnecessary avoidance of situations due to fears and worries.
If so, we can work together to help you find relief. Since mood variations are a normal part of life, it is important to distinguish clinical depression from appropriately being sad or "blue" during times of distress. This is why a comprehensive consultation by a knowledgeable provider is of paramount importance in starting your journey back to happiness and health.
If so, we can work together to help you find some solutions. Living with HIV/AIDS is a unique and often challenging experience. It can sometimes affect depression, anxiety or addiction disorders. Although living with HIV can change your life in many ways, HIV need not be the focus of our work together.

It took me a long time to find a psychiatrist I feel comfortable with. I had met with many doctors. Some didn't look me in the eye, forgot my name or called me by the wrong name. One guy didn't return my call when I really needed some assistance. Dr. Spicer is warm and engaged and quickly made me feel at ease. He has helped me immeasurably and I would not hesitate for a second to refer anyone (including people I really really care about) who needed help and guidance.

Dr Shane Spicer is one of my top psychiatrists that I refer clients to as part of my psychotherapy practice here in Manhattan. He is incredibly thorough in his evaluations, taking time to understand not only my patients' symptoms but their stories. He is excellent at working with addictions, gently educating clients about the impact of substances and alcohol in a respectful and empowering manner. He has also done excellent work with my patients who struggle with ADD, finding medication and CBT resources that help people get their lives back. Dr. Spicer is personable yet consummately professional

Dr. Shane Spicer is my top choice for referrals for psychiatric issues in my primary care patients. I value his evaluation and medical knowledge more than any other psychiatrist. He is the psychiatrist I call when I need help with a complicated patient, which I seem to collect. Not only are his psychiatric skills superior, he is a compassionate and caring physician, always communicating with me about our mutual patients and at any hour of the day. This is a rarity in medicine these days and I would highly recommend him.

I have been receiving treatment from Dr. Spicer for years. Five stars isn't high enough, but it will have to do. He is without hesitation the most thorough, caring, and intelligent behavioral health expert from whom I have received care. I highly recommend him should you be seeking an excellent therapist or someone with expertise in medication management. Plus his office is beautiful.
