Lea French Street Food
We know the local farmers that grow our food, right here in the Midwest. Choose from our French classics: baguette sandwiches, salads, tartines, and croques hand-crafted with our farm-fresh artisan ingredients. Artisan French Bread and Pastries, made daily in our restaurant, using traditional French recipes in our stone deck oven. A French-Inspired cafe and restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch using locally sourced high-quality ingredients.
Services
Lea French Street Food is inspired by the simple peasant foods that we experienced in France. Before moving to Oak Park and River Forest, we lived in Paris with our family for many years. We enjoyed the amazingly flavorful baguette sandwiches and fresh salads that are typical in the street cafes. Not to mention the artisan bread, pastries, and eclairs we would pick up on our way home for dinner, bringing a smile to our children's faces.

We have take out very often from Leas. We love their Le Parisienne sandwiches, cookies, coffee and pane chocolat. The food is fresh and never disappoints. Their loaf of French bread is amazing, too. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area.

My standards for French street food may sound high as I've studied in Paris, and spent subsequent trips in the city. I love it, possibly more than the fancier stuff French cuisine is known for, and part of that love is the fairly consistent expectation you can have for quality even if you aren't spending much more than 6 euro.
The atmosphere is nice enough, though it is a more contemporary take on American French tourism kitsch. You know it--tons of pictures of Eiffel Towers, prints of old French ads which may or may not have anything to do with that they sell, etc. etc. If you like it you like

Everything is delicious here! We got butter croissants, peach tarts, cinnamon croissants, and cafe au lait. Definitely worth getting out of bed for on a cold wet November morning!

Not impressed. I ordered a simple iced latte at the kiosk - no option for skim milk, but OK 2% will do. Also customized (the option was provided) with 1 Splenda. 15 minutes later my coffee order came up. It was clearly unsweetened so I asked for a Splenda, stevia, etc and was then told by indifferent staff that they only have regular sugar. Maybe they could have told me that before making the order? I would have gone elsewhere at that point since no skim and no sweetener, especially considering the long wait for a coffee. I won't rush back.

It's one of my favorite places to go to in Oak Park! The restaurant is well designed and has a French bakery feel. I wish the seating was further away from the cashier because the place gets noisy when crowds arrive. The noise take away from the French cafe vibe. I also feel they should play French music to pair with the restaurant, not just pop music.

Their food is amazing! Their plain and chocolate croissants are fluffy and tasty! The bread is high quality. I have tried their croque madam and croque monsiuer. The ingredients don't overpower each other in either sandwich and blend

Favorite lunchtime sandwich is a tartine, salad, OJ, and chocolate chip cookie. The place and staff are always really nice! Only comment is maybe add more to the salad? The dressing is fabulous though.

Eh. Whenever I walk here even around 5 this place is always closed. I saw their website and they close every day 3 pm. Wouldn't they like to make extra money by staying open until at least 7 especially in the summer? People work until 5 at least.

Anyway. I went there today for lunch. We got there at 2:45 pm. The check out girl when she saw us looked annoyed and just kept watching us throughout the whole process of ordering at kiosk. Every time I looked up or around , I saw her looking at me as in "hey order fast, order like right now". Then I realized they close at 3. I felt very

Good was fantastic, but I took 2 stars away because for eating at the restaurant I received a plastic container in a bag. All patrons dining in got the same. This creates so much unnecessary waste, it really bothered me.

Has potential.
The people working here were pleasant enough; the touch-screen ordering kiosk was a breeze, but the food and drink didn't "meet or exceed my expectations ". The quiche was cold and slimy, the crust was soggy, and the chai tea latte was lukewarm. Just a whole lot of 'meh' in this experience.
At least serve your quiche at room temperature as if you baked it earlier that day...you know, like the French do it.
Hint: French is also in your name!

Then there was the cooked egg yolk embedded in my quiche. (See pic) I can't imagine a scenario where a perfectly

I'm local real estate agent. I appreciate that the restaurants have been hard hit by Covid so I try to eat out often. My quiche was cold and I asked the gentleman who was cooking if would mind heating it. He took the box with my quiche and threw it off to the side and walked away. This message is to the owner. Your employees are not representing your establishment. Other patrons saw what happened. Word gets out.

I was so excited to try this place, first place to eat lunch inside after indoor dining was allowed again! Unfortunately, it didn't quite meet the hype.
I ordered the rosemary chicken sandwich on baguette. The chicken itself was juicy but not seasoned in any way. I was excited for the rosemary flavor and honestly, there was none. The bacon on it was the only thing that brought flavor since the avocado was unseasoned as well. For $11, I would not get again.
The baguette was quite delicious though, nice and crisp but not enough to cut the roof of your mouth!

I had previously gotten their

I wish I could give more than five stars! IMO, their butter croissants are the best in the Chicago region - crusty and perfectly golden on the outside, tender and delicious on the inside. (They also make chocolate and almond croissants, as well as other delectable pastries.) The owner's husband is French, educated in patisserie, and it shows! The baguettes are perfect. And they have fresh-squeezed lemonade and orange juice. I always pick up a sandwich if I'm there near lunch time; if I'm lucky, it's a day when they've made their amazing pear tarts. They're big enough

Love this place. An easy and delish lunch option. If it's nice out, you can order and eat outside. They are taking precautions for COVID19, which is much appreciated!

Wow, what a difference time makes. Sent the husband with kids to get lunch today and he came back with a true assortment. Turkey/Bacon/cheddar sandwich, chicken/mushroom soup, croissants, pan au chocolates, and a baguette. Everything was delicious and devoured quickly. We haven't had pastries this authentic since we were in France!

I finally figured out my cell phone would not work for ordering online and swiftly pivoted to my computer which did easily work !! User error I assume!

I ordered lunch today from Lea French Street Food - a chicken sandwich on a baguette, cookie and salad (no, I didn't consume 100% of this at lunch!). The sandwich was so delicious - fresh chicken, avocado, bacon...it didn't even need cheese. It was not overwhelming with flavor - just simple and delicious. The bread was also out of this world - really took me back to various visits to France.

The staff was very helpful and the food

Stopped in here to pick up a quick breakfast. The latte I got was really great and decided to get a croissant to go. The interior of the shop was nice, tables were appropriately spaced-out to abide by the COVID guidelines. Would love to come back for brunch someday.

I'm a fan! It's hard to find affordable French food around here. Open during covid 19. Online ordering is a breeze as well as contactless pick up. The breakfast croissant and chocolate chip cookie is delish. The fresh squeezed orange juice was perfectly sweet. The baguette had a nice chew and crisps up nicely when baked at home. I think the price point is good for the amount of food you get.

It's so great having simple fresh nutritious tasty food in town. Also pretty amazing that they bake their pastries there. Very nice fresh French pastry just a walk away. I'm not sure why people are frustrated using touchscreen tablets to order their food. The wait staff are very friendly and will answer any question and make any recommendation. Definitely worth going to.

This rating is for the freshly baked baguette that they sell by the register. So. Good. And FRESH!! I stumbled across it by accident, tbh. I walked in to get a chocolate croissant and walked out with a whole freaking baguette! Would definitely do it again. I just went home and ate at least half of it while watching Criminal Minds. Judge me all you want, but I love my bread and my Shemar Moore! Lol

I love the tartines here! The prosciutto, ricotta cheese, honey, walnuts, and grape tartine with a side salad is my favorite. I didn't think grapes would be good with it but it is a perfect addition! The dressing on the side salad is so yummy-a bit mustardy.
The deserts are worth the price. The chocolate croissant is very authentic. The chocolate mousse tart is also delicious with a bit of cherry surprise in the center.

Chic, fresh vibe and healthy food options.
When you enter, there is a colorful menu on the wall showing descriptions and pictures of the options. There are two registers for self ordering and paying. Orders are available for take out or will be brought to your table for dining in.

I stopped in for a quick breakfast and was drawn in by the goat cheese avocado tartine. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it would be topped with so much herbs de provence(? Italian seasoning?). It lost all it's fresh, light breakfast promises to the super savory taste of aromatic shrubbery.
The potatoes were good, but also very strongly flavored with rosemary. And the tartine needed some lemon juice or other acid to balance out the massive amount of goat cheese.
It was very pretty, but also nearly impossible to eat. It cannot be picked up and bitten, you have to cut it, which it is tricker

Great introduction to French comfort food. Service is friendly and attentive (the whole family, kids and all, were working the day visited). Ordering via touch screen is modern but confusing for first time visitors.
