The Salm-McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home is the oldest continuously operated business in Sidney and Shelby County. It was established by Fred Salm in 1866. The facility was at one time located at the former Goffena Furniture Store, in downtown Sidney, Ohio. The current location, on South Ohio Ave., was the residence of C.F. Hickok.
An affordable price that is generally hundreds or even thousands less than other funeral homes. Because, we care about the community we serve, and put them ahead of profits. For 156 years we have felt this is the right thing to do. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home invites you to compare our funeral home to any of our competitors.
Our business philosophy is personal attention and extraordinary service, with an eye to personaliztion. The key to a personal service business, is Personalization, and we provide that, in a manner befitting your loved one's memory, and your family's memories of your loved one. Things like special music, themed funerals, and other types of memorializtion, make every family's unique memories of their loved ones stand out.
We are residents of the Shelby County community. We are members of Holy Angels Catholic Church and First United Methodist Church. We also support and attend many local and community functions the same way we have since 1866. Don is a native of Sidney, Don graduated from Sidney High School in 1976. Don went on to obtain his business degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1981.
If you have pets, it is likely that you consider them a family member too. The love that is shared between the pet and the owner, the inevitable death of a special animal is painful. Healthy grieving is necessary with the death of a family member or friend. While the decision to leave your loving pet behind at the veterinarian's office to disposal of is not the right decision for you.

Wonderful to work with. Very helpful during a difficult process. They were on time, organized, gave clear direction and explanation of the process. They were especially helpful in working with the cemetery to allow us access on a national holiday.
