In 1851, Mears Park was known as "Baptist Hill" because members of the First Baptist church chose it as the location for their first chapel. Josh Smith, the owner of the rest of the hill, found the terrain too steep for further building so he donated the land to the city as a park. The hill was leveled and Mears Park was born.
In 1870, Daniel & Charles Noyes bought a small medical company in St. Paul with partner, Edward Cutler, joining the company in 1871. The company grew rapidly and in 1889, Noyes Brothers & Cutler moved into their new building at the corner of 6th & Sibley in Lowertown St. Paul which is where they stayed for over 30 years.

My wife and I are thrilled with our experience hosting our wedding at LEC. Charice and her staff were very accommodating and great to work with throughout the entire process. The space is located in the basement but, it's exposed architectural features in a historic building of downtown St Paul make it very unique and pretty.
One of our favorite things about this venue is that Charice doesn't hide any fees, and minimums do not exist. It was very easy to plan everything and work within our wedding budget.
Another thing we loved is that Charice has a great list of vendors, which we utilized quite

We recently had a our wedding reception at Lowertown Event Center and it was everything we could have dreamed of for our special day! The setup and decor was perfect - open concept with exposed brick, cool lighting & fun furniture. There are 2 small alcoves in the back of the main room that were perfect for our dessert display and our photo booth setup. There were also plenty of large couches, chairs and coffee tables for guests to hang out / lounge during the evening. The bar and DJ set up was right next to the dance floor which was a perfect flow and kept people on or near the dance floor all

I absolutely loved Lowertown Event Center for my wedding venue! We had our wedding in December and wanted a venue that was cozy and and inviting and Lowertown was just that! Plus they have lounge furniture, chiavari chairs, a separate space for a ceremony/cocktail hour, beautiful chandeliers, etc. etc. I could go on and on... Charice and the staff there were absolutely amazing! She just took care of everything and I didn't have to worry about a thing. She was also so wonderful throughout our planning - so accommodating and helpful and quick to respond. I would absolutely recommend Lowertown Event

We had an AMAZING wedding here, I wouldn't have had it any other way or at any other location! Charice was fabulous and I loved working with her. She's hilarious and personable while still remaining professional and reliable. She's totally got it down. Our day was honestly so dreamy and most of it was because of this beautiful venue!!

Wow! I cannot imagine the wedding of my dreams anywhere else. First of all, if you're like me and you know NOTHING about weddings, get ready to meet your new best friend - the coordinator Charice. She will talk you through EVERYTHING, and when you send her a long email with 30 questions she will get back to you very quickly and answer every single one. I was so impressed with the communication, and each and every staff member that Charice had on board from the security guard to the bar tenders. They all acted professionally, kept the mood upbeat, and made sure to take care of all of our guests

I believe this venue is a great spot considering price and location. I have enjoyed my interactions with Charice who manages the space, and I've enjoyed the freedom that this location allows opposed to most other venues. The only reason I am removing a star, and I feel guilty for it, is that the bathrooms are horrendous and embarrassing to guide guests to. The space itself is lovely, its a shame that the restrooms are complete 180. However, I don't believe the venue has much say as it is a shared building and these particular restrooms I believe would be considered within the public space - I think

My company, Summit Hill Studios, works here frequently and this is a unique and stunning venue designed entirely by its owner Charice. Her attention to detail and ability to locate the perfect, one of a kind decor is what makes this space so great! Limestone and barn wood walls encompass a very rustic yet elegant venue that is a must see!

My friends had their wedding there and it was a beautiful event. This place is within walking distance to the DoubleTree (not in winter time). The ceremony was felt really cozy and simple but very well executed and beautifully decorated. The reception area wasn't very big but perfect for a wedding of our size. The service was great and food tasted delicious. Good size dance floor for the number of guests that they accommodate and he restrooms were kept very clean. Great venue for a wedding!
